Katrina inhaled deeply. What she had expected him to answer, she didn't know.
He had made his decision clear, now she would make hers clear.
"Then it is over," Katrina said calmly, swallowing her fury. "I have waited,
I have been injured, I have been lonely, and all because I love you. Much as
I'm sure you'll try to disagree with me, your job is more important to you.
Always has been, always will be."
Katrina was so angry she could have torn his head off, then spit down his
throat and let the PITAs crap on it. She could feel her body shaking with
rage.
Seymour went to say something, she held a hand up. "No, don't bother. I'm
leaving you, and this ship. I'm giving White Wolf my resignation immediately,
and I will depart this ship the moment this new attack ends." She started
back to her quarters, but she stopped halfway and turned back to Seymour.
"And if you ever stop by Earth, don't bother looking me up. Good-bye,
Seymour."
When she reached her quarters, Katrina entered, closed the doors and locked
them.
