Jam Session Imminent
Who: Sydra, Eve Where: living quarters When: in the middle of Sydra's set After blowing through the first song, Sydra moved on to something a bit faster... and a lot louder... *Once you recognize the truth, tell me what do you do? It's inside of me and it's inside of you Addicted to the sickness, it's a natural fact All I know is I hope that we're better than that...* It wasn't long before Syd realized that without a good bass line and some really wicked drums, punk wasn't much fun... yet she continued to play. As she played, she thought she heard a faint tapping. Stopping in the middle of the song she placed her Strat on the table and headed to the door. Opening the door, Sydra was a bit surprised to find a young woman standing at the door. Glancing over the woman, Sydra's eyes stopped at the cat that was pacing by the girls feet. Sydra's eyes settled on the young woman's extended hand. Accepting, Sydra shook firmly as she studied her crew mate. < snip > "Hi, I'm Eve Lola Rimmer, Science Department, newly appointed Assistant Chief Science Officer, my quarters are just next door" nodding her head in the direction"I'm Sydra Tempest, Security Department, fairly new to the ship, Covert Operations Officer, call me Syd... arh look sorry about the noise, I'll stop""Not at all." opening her case and showing her the instrument inside."I was wondering if I could join you?" holding up her trumpet.< end snip > Sydra eyed the young woman and the trumpet that she held. She had sincerely hoped that the 'visitor entreating entrance at her chamber door' was just an annoyed crew mate that would quickly chastise her for the noise and be on their way. Not all to happy with the prospect of having to make nice with anyone, Syd thought to herself, "Well, I should have expected as much when I started all the racket..." Doing her best to mask her uneasiness, Sydra flashed a somewhat forced grin as she replied, "By all means. Be my guest." Sydra motioned Eve through the doorway and closed the door behind, almost crushing Eve's cat in the process. The cat meowed loudly as he narrowly escaped the closing door. "Bugger!" Sydra exclaimed, bit taken aback by the animals noise. Eve said slowly, "Just let me take Ares back to my quarters..." Still looking at the cat Sydra replied, "No worries... I'm sure I can tolerate... Ares, you say? That's the creature's name?" Eve nodded in affirmation. Retrieving her cigarette from its place in the ashtray, Sydra sat down and gestured to Eve to do likewise. Not knowing quite what to say, Syd thought for a moment. She realized a horn might be a nice addition, it might add a nice ska sound to her rhythms. Fairly pleased with that prospect, however still none too thrilled at the idea of having to play 'hostess,' as the case may be. Clearing her throat, Sydra glanced over at Eve and asked with restraint, "So... any requests?" < tag Eve >
