Sniper in the ceiling

Rufus picked up a particularly interesting sniper riffle and looked through the laser sighting then laughed to himself. He walked around the armoury bored and looking for trouble, it was then he noticed an air vent with a perfect view of the door. He laughed again but more evily this time. He jumped up and disloged the vent cover, then jumped up again and grabbed the rim before swinging himself up. He lay belly down in the vent and slid the cover closed, leaving just enough room for the riffel to point out.
The time passed like a drunk snail crawling through particuarly sticky treacle. Minutes. Hours. Rufus couldn't tell. He was dozing in the vent when a noise that was most like
"Arrrgh mateys!" came from the corridor outside the armoury. Rufus sat up and thunked his head on the vent roof before remembering where he was.
"Ouch damnit!" he whispered then looked through the grille two pirates had just entered the doorway. "Stay where you are" Rufus said from his vantage point in the ceiling, training the laser sighting on one of the pirates. The pirates looked around, shrugged then took a pace or two forward. "I warned you" Rufus said and fired a shot. one pirate screamed like a girl a thin line of blood tricked away from his left foot. Rufus trained the laser sight on the other pirate, a small red dot hovered over his heart.
*Bang*
*Thud*
*Bang*
*Thud*
Both pirates lay dead on the floor. Rufus chuckled in self congratulation. That was until Jay came in
"Get out of the vent sharp shooter" He ordered and but a bullet through the vent about an inch away from Rufus' ear. Rufus mumbled something along the lines of 'meep' then slowly climbed out.
"Oh, Jay, it's just you.... I thought I was in trouble there"<Tag.... Jay, WW?>
