Blood in Buckingham, Ditzes in the Drive Room
Who: Seymour, Steev, Katrina, Cubie, and a bunch of spiders
Where: What's left of Buckingham Palace
When: The Coronation carnage
Cubie leapt over a pile of rubble that once resembled the east wall of the
reception hall. In her arms, Katrina hung like a dead weight, unconscious
from the blood loss. Cubie tried to ST-jump again, only to be blinded by an
assortment of warning lights in her HUD. Blinking them away, she opted for
simply running as hard as she could. If the spider hit her controller
again, it might shift her involuntarily to soft-light and she'd drop
Katrina.
Of course, there was the distinct possibility that another hit to her
controller might short her out entirely. Without access to the STCP
mainframe, a spontaneous journey to oblivion would be a one-way trip.
Suddenly the ground shook beneath her feet as several bazookoid rounds
slammed into the spiders pursuing her. Staggering, she managed to twist
before hitting the floor, cushioning Katrina and managing to keep her head
from bouncing off the marble floor. Looking back, she stared at the flaming
ruins that had once been spiders.
-----Snip-----
"Is she going to be alright?" He came over to her, just to touch her skin
was comfort enough to her, at least he knew where she was.
"She's losing blood, we need to get her to a hospital quickly." Cubie said.
Seymour looked around, "Where's Steev? I thought he was fighting too?"
The door of the cupboard blocking the doorway opened and Steev coughed and
spluttered as he got out of the dusty cabinet. Seymour gave him a glance as
if to say "Coward."
Steev gave him a look back and shrugged his shoulders as if to say "What?!"
Just as Steev was clear of the cupboard, it was splintered into shards and
flown across the room. Another spider stood in the doorway, more behind it
pushing to get into the room.
Seymour pointed to the hole he'd made in the wall while he'd been shooting
and everyone went through it. "Men of honour don't hide in Cupboards Mr.
MackEnZyyyy!" The king said, pushing him through the gap.
Steev whined something and imitated Seymour in a silly voice. Seymour looked
back through the crack and fired at the ceiling which gave way and crashed
onto the Plebian monsters. The entire palace shook as if it were about to
fall apart.
-----End Snip-----
Cubie tried to morph, but found herself unable to change her appearance.
Looked like she was stuck in this form, at least for the time being. Since
Seymour was covering their retreat and Steev was leading the way, she
shifted Katrina to a modified fireman's carry and bolted after the engineer.
She noted grimly that the engineer was making great time.
Behind her, she heard several more bazookoid rounds explode. Then she heard
Seymour shouting. "Annoying gits! Just once I'd like to be crowned King of
England without an annoying interruption!"
Cubie looked back as Seymour leapt through the hole in the wall, then fired
several rounds that caused the wall to collapse. One spider made it
through, and the King dispatched it swiftly. "Just how many coronations
have you been the guest of honor to?"
"One so far, but I don't want to establish a poor precedent!" He turned and
looked around. "Where's that fool engineer?"
"Right here, capt-er, Your Majesty." Steev peered in from the next hole in
the wall. "I think we can make it back to my ship this way." He stepped
into view, carrying a portable grenade launcher.
Cubie eyed the launcher. "Where did you get THAT?"
Steev blushed. "It was . . . just lying around. Thought I'd borrow it."
Cubie peered through the hole Steev had just come through. The room was a
wreck, with several holes in the walls and ceiling. It had once been a very
luxurious bedroom suite. Lacy pink tatters still clung to the massive
canopy bed. The dressers were toppled and clothes were strewn everywhere.
Seymour shouldered past, horrified. "You've been rifling the Queen's
bedroom?!"
Steev shrugged. "Got a grenade launcher, didn't I?"
Katrina opened her eyes, disoriented. She sorted out the fuzzy images she
saw and tried to figure out why the world was spinning. At first she
thought she was disoriented, but finally she realized that it was because
she was draped over Cubie's shoulders while the hologram tried to sort out
the squabble between Seymour and Steev. "Stop it, you two! We need to get
out of here!"
"Ech!" Said Katrina. She was getting nauseous.
Seymour shook his head angrily. "Not until he puts it back! Self-defense
is one thing! Nicking the Queen's personal property is quite another!"
"Hoog!" said Katrina. She was definitely getting nauseous now.
Steev rolled his eyes. "Oh, and where did you get that bazookoid? Out of
your pocket? That's Royal property as well!"
"Wha-EEEEEEEWWWWWW! My hair!!" Katrina was finished getting nauseous, and
now it was Cubie's turn.
Seymour was livid. "But I'm the bloody King!! I can DO that!"
The argument would have continued, but thankfully three spiders burrowed
through the rubble and rushed to attack the quartet.

Who: Zack
Where: The Richards quarters - BD
When: Right after Cubie dropped him off
"But . . . but I can help!" Zack sighed. He knew that Cubie was
probably right. The battle was no place for a slightly overweight
hovercraft rental agent-turned-space-time fugitive.
"Well, I guess I'll see what else is going on." He strolled out of the
quarters and headed for the drive room. Maybe someone there had something
he could do to help.
Arriving at the drive room, he spotted the woman that had . . .
assisted them before. "Uh, hello again. Anybody need a hand up here?"
