well Ray didn't exzactialy say that.  who would expect him to?  he was standing over the battered, scratched, dented, and just generally beat up hull of his bike and was not in the best of all possible moods.    what he said was more along the lines of,
"Well boys I know that you are looking for some pait because someone scratched the paint on your pleasure yachts but unless you have something important to say I will say only that their is no paint here. And if you are so sure of your overly painted useless hulks of ships I will challenge you to a race when this mess is all over.  any ship you want vs. me and my bike."
Ray would have looked challengingly over his bike at Dean and Jay if his face betrayed any emotion but it didn't.
