The way of the Psychiatry
Who: Cerebrum, Eve, Zodar
Where: The flying city
> "So what do we have here? Psychiatric Apprentices? No. It's a shame
> really. The pay is phenomenal."
> "Can we help?" Asked Pyrogen with a smile still on his face.
"Yes, you may help," Cerebrum said, as he started walking towards the
command center, "I shall teach you the way of the Psychiatry. Lesson number
one is that there are two sides to psychiatry, the up side and the down
side. You must never give in to the down side. To do this, you must never
provide a psychiatric service for which you are not compensated in some way.
Remember, compassion and charity lead to the down side, greed leads to the
up side."
At the command center, a guard stopped them. "You can't go into the command
center here without authorization," he said, backing up his words with a big
gun.
"Now I shall demonstrate the second lesson of the way of the Psychiatric,"
Cerebrum whispered to Eve and Zodar, then turned to the guard. "If we didn't
have authorization, we wouldn't be trying to get in here, right?"
"Show it to me then," the guard responded, sticking to what he knew.
"But I don't have to, since it's obvious that you need authorization to get
in here, so therefore, I wouldn't try to get in without authorization, which
means that I must have authorization. You see?"
"Uh, yeah," said the guard, who had been chosen for his size, rather than
his intelligence.
As Cerebrum walked through the door, he stopped and turned to the guard,
"Now, give me your uniform and gun."
"What?"
"My authorization says that you have to give me your uniform."
"But-"
"Are you going to argue with high command? My authorization that lets me get
in through this door, and it says you have to give me your uniform."
"Uh,"
Six minutes later, Cerebrum, Eve and Zodar were in the command center,
Cerebrum carrying the guard's uniform and gun. "That is the second lesson of
the way of the Psychiatry. It is perfectly all right to use Psychiatry for
your own gain."
