Re: [JMC_Blue_Dwarf] Re: Bug People
Who: Cerebrum and Keto
Where: Starbug

"Idiot," Cerebrum snapped, quietly, "I can't fly a starbug, and neither can
you. How the hell are we going to escape back to comp, where we'll look
innocent and pretend never to have heard of those guys?"
Then he peeked up over the trolly, "Well, anyway, it looks like they're gone
for the moment,"
Cerebrum stood up and walked to the exit door, and tried to open it. "Blast,
they jammed it, I'm going to try the cargo door."
Keto started to say something, but Cerebrum had already left. He returned a
minute later. "Good news, I got the cargo door open. We should be able to
get back to the camp in my armored car. What's wrong Keto? Your face's gone
white,"
Dr Keto wordlessly pointed at the digital clock on the wall, which was
attached to some wires, which ran up to a large amount of plastic
explosives.
"Oh, it's a bomb, and it looks like it's going to detonate in four minutes."
While Dr Keto proceeded to panic, Cerebrum wandered over to the bomb and
examined it. "If this thing explodes, we'll lose one of the ships that can
get us off of the planet. Better disarm it. Don't worry, I once hallucinated
I was a member of the bomb squad, and I once saw the cover of the JMC bomb
disarming manual."
Fifteen seconds later, and Cerebrum had levered the cover off of the bomb,
and was looking at the wires. "Let's see now, if I recall correctly, I
should now have to cut the red wire," he moved the wire cutters towards the
wire, then paused, "Or was it the blue wire. Damn it, I can never remember.
Oh well, they all look gray to me," then clipped the wire.
"Well," said Dr Keto, who was now wishing he was anywhere but here, "Is it
safe?"
Dr Cerebrum stood up, turned around and stared Keto straight in the face and
said one word. "Run," then stepped aside to reveal the digital clock showing
twenty seconds left.
Twenty seconds later.
The Starbug exploded. I'd describe it, but my special effects budget has run
out. One of the Plebians walked to the edge of the crater, and said, "That
took care of any survivors," and was about to continue, but stopped because
he saw something.
At the bottom of the crater was the armored car.
"I told you we'd be safe in here," Cerebrum told Keto, then reached over and
opened the door. It came off in his hands, and then the rest of the vehicle
proceeded to fall apart. Cerebrum dug through the remains of the glove
compartment and took out a piece of paper and read through it. "Ah, this
explains it. The warrenty just expired."
