Keto Ate My Personality...
Who: Keto, Sarah Alexander, Mayer.
Where: Keto's Office.
-------------
"You really want to help me bring Trisees back that much?" asked Sarah, taken aback by the speed of Keto's interuption.
"Could you really stand him being present in your medibay for the rest of your life?" asked Keto pointing to Mayer.
"Hey, I resent that," protsted Sean.
"You have a point," said Sarah.
"And that!" exclaimed Sean.
"Shut up," said Keto.
Sean frowned and sat down on the chair in the corner.
Keto moved over to the stack of drawings and plans which Sarah had created in the short time she'd been onbaord ship and his eyes
grew wide in surprise at how much was needed for a simple body combination/time reversal/persoanlity splicing. He faltered a little and
struck the previous thought from his mind.
"So where can I be of assistance?" he asked.
"You were present for Lawrence's orginal personality separation experiment, were you not?" asked Alexander.
"Yes."
"I need the schematics of it's original design. I'm talking about the first machine he mentioned in his journals," said Sarah.
"The one he made himself? And not the one which created this bizarre offshoot of humanity," asked Keto, referring to Mayer, who by
now was looking a little unhappy.
"Yes, that one," said Alexander.
"Why must you continue to insult me?" he asked.
"Because it's so easy," said Keto. "I'll need to go down to Supply Field B where Trisees set up base camp and retrieve the things, but
that shouldn't be too difficult. Anything else?"
"For now, no," replied Alexander.
Keto nodded and exited the room.
Sean sat still, on the chair, pouting.
Alexander looked up from her drawings and chewed her pen end thoughtfully.
"I have a question, Sean," she said, dirsputing Mayer's pout.
"Shoot," he said, happily.
"Just how did you know I wasn't dead? I'd been hidden for almost seven years. no one suspected anything, then you, a rogue personality
from millenia ago shows up and automatically contacts me. It doesn't make any sense."
Sean smiled.
"Actually it makes all the sense in the world," he said enigmatically.
"Go on then," she baited him, grinning. "Enlighten me."
Sean stood up and straightened his shirt.
"Ok, so my biggest hobby is writing. Take this situation here: Boy in love with girl he works with. Says nothing to her until on fateful day
when he is wrenched from her life by forces unknown to everyone for 12 years. Girl, you, finds tape with proclamation of love on and boy
is not seen again after leaving building where tape was made. Follow?"
"So far, yes," said Sarah.
"Right, so now we have a classic situation of broken heart. Girl also loves boy but hasn't told him. Both are in love with each other, but both
don't know the other one loves them. Broken heart comes from girl, who is so distruaght about loss of boy, that she cannot work on collaboration
anymore due to memories. She leaves collaboration to work on something else, but boy invades her mind every second of every day. She
decides to begin a new life and try to forget everything she once knew. She fakes death in order to do so. It was so obvious from the reports
that your death was faked, it just wasn't funny. There was no possible way you could have been dead. It's exactly the same plotline as a classic
love story that I wrote about for my english coursework once."
Sean beamed and sat down.
Sarah laughed.
"Well done," she congratulated. "You got it perfectly right. Just as smart as Lawrence was, or rather is."
Sarah stopped talking and her eyes misted.
"God, I haven't seen him in so long. I miss him so much," she said, her eyes starting to well up.
Sean twicthed uneasily before walking over to Sarah and putting an arm around her shoulders.
"Now, now" he said. "We'll get him back. It's only a matter of time."
She wiped her eyes and hugged Sean.
"I hope so. The last few times don't appear to have been veru successfull," she said, gesturing to Trisees reports.
"Well the last few times we didn't have you on the project," he said, smiling warmly.
She looked up at him and stared at his eyes. For a second all she saw was Lawrence Trisees. There was no Mayer, there was no Blue Dwarf,
the last 12 years never happened. She was back with the man who'd made her life complete. She reached up and kissed him deeply on the lips,
forgetting reality. She was startled when Trisees drew back quickly.
"I think you thought I was him," said Sean hastily.
Sarah blinked a couple of times and blushed, ashamed.
"I'm sorry," she said, hurriedly. "I must get back to work." She picked up her pen and began scribbling furiously again.
Sean walked out of the office and closed the door quietly.
