The morning
Who: The marooned people
Where: The planet
When: Next morning
After a good night's sleep, Cerebrum performed his morning ablutions,
by swallowing several dozen pills that were needed to keep his mind
normal. Since it was highly unlikely that he was going to be able to
find a resupply of them on the planet, it was anyone's guess as to
what would happen when he ran out, though any guess involving axe
murders had a good chance of being correct.
As the group got together, Cerebrum got a tricorder, and punched up a
sonic scan of the region. "Let's see," he said out loud, examining
the map, "According to this, the medical outpost we're looking for is
twenty kilometers south."
Twenty kilometers later
"I don't see anything," Jay said, as they left the vehicle, into a
clearing in the jungle that looked just like any other clearing in
the jungle.
Cerebrum got out the tricorder again, examined it and then turned it
around. "Oops," he said, "Had it upside down. The medical outpost is
actually forty kilometers north."
Thirty kilometers later
"I see you neglected to inform us about the river," Dr Keto said,
while looking over the two hundred meter wide, thirty meter deep
river that the vehicle was parked in front of.
"My bad," Cerebrum said, "I didn't know what the squiggly blue line
on the map meant."
"Anything else in between here and the medical outpost that you
haven't told us about?"
"There's a squiggly brown line marked ravine, a roundish gray thing
marked volcano and a large number of small, fast moving objects forty
meters to the east heading this way, marked carnivorious dinosaurs.
That's about it."
