Firing the cannon

Drive Room
Edwards enterde the drive room and kicked one of the bridge staff off
their chair and sat in their place. The Lt. began to tap away at the
controls in front of her and grinned evily as she brought the cannon
that had been mounted on front of the mining ship quite a while ago.
Near where the cannon was located robotic arms began to move and
loaded the first missile into the cannon, almost dropping it while
they carried out this action.
Back on the drive room Edwards saw that the cannon was aimed and
ready to be fired. Then she hit the button marked 'fire'.
The entire ship jolted as the cannon fired. The missile was blasted
out of the cannon straight at the Red Dwarf. As the warhead struck
the hull of the red ship there was a large flash as it exploded,
blowing away a very large part of the front of the ship.
"I love this job." Edwards commented as she began to type, readying
the launch of a second missile.
