Steev...back on the Dwarf

dazed and confused.

It had all been a bit of a blur. Landing on Ffion. Getting knocked
unconscious. Waking up over a chasm. Meeting Ace Rimmer. Teleporting the
bug ship. Getting back here in the first place. But he was here, he was
back, and that was all that mattered now. Steev glanced into the corner of
the room. The Most Comfortable Luggage Locker In The World sat there
invitingly. Steev contemplated spending a couple of hours in there, but he
had been largely free of personal duress lately, and so didn't feel the
emotional need, even if it was damn comfy....
Footsteps sounded off down the corridor. Shouting. Something about
bugs..."Oh well" thought Steev, "It's been the topic of the week
really....Should I go check it out?" But then duty called. "Bugger it, I'm
an engineer, not a doctor, no wait, a munchkin, no...ahh I give up." Steev
sank further into his bed. Life was actually rather good.

Steev thought about Ace Rimmer for a while. He hadn't been listening at the
time, but his engineer's subconscious had picked up all the technical
information Ace had told him, about the inter-dimensional drive and all
that. He wondered if it was all really possible. Ace hadn't, of course,
told him everything about the process, but was that bluffer's lapse or
Hush-hush secrecy? Steev thought for a bit...

"Yup," thought Steev, " I could make the interdimensional drive."

"Pretty easy really"
....
.....
......
"Wonder if I should bother?"
....
.....
......
"Yeah, why the hell not?"
Steev got out of bed and set off in the direction of main engineering.
