getting back to Kansas
After the interesting discussion with the Enriam about insurance, Dirk
headed back to the bridge with a bit of a buzz. He had felt the sub
rise as though it were surfacing. Once on the bridge, he saw the last
person he'd expected to see there. Dren was laying on the floor with
an icepack on his crotch and dripping wet. "This one's to small;
better throw it back," he said to White Wolf. Dren looked up at Dirk,
extended his middle finger, and mouthed something(I'll spare you the
details because it is completely filthy and utterly obscene).
The sub was violently shaken. Dirk ran to the console. "We've been
hit. Again."
"Did the Areons follow us?" Mike asked.
"Nope," came Dirk's answer. "It's one of our own guys."
"How could one of our own people attack us?" Mike was nearing another
fainting attack.
"Because we're in an Enriam sub," White Wolf put his head in his paws
for a breif moment. "Dive! Once underwater, hopefully, our crew
won't be able to see us and attack again."
As Kayn made the sub sink, er.., dive, Dirk gave White Wolf more bad
news, "It's not going to be that easy. That blast hit the engine
room. We're leaking oil, which should be detectable from the air, and
can only move at 1/4th normal speed. It won't be hard for them to
locate us and continue to rock us like a hurricane(sorry, bad joke, i
know)."
"Let's blast some Enriams. That way they'll know we're Blue Dwarf,"
the hampster said.
"Not close enough to any to get a good shot. Besides, those are Blue
Dwarf up there, probably security detail. Do you actually think they
can perform the brain functions required to classify us as friend
instead of foe, or that they'll care on way or the other."
"Damn!" White Wolf slammed a paw on the wall. "If there was only
some way to juice up the engines to outrun them."
A flash of brilliance ran through Dirk's mind. "Wait a minute! I've
got an idea."
"Uh-oh!" bluttered out of Dren's mouth.
With a quick smack across the back of the technician's head, the
scientist continued, "Kayn, aim for the cluster of subs 5 degrees off
port. I've got a plan to give the engines a little more umph." Dirk
waved Mike over and whispered in his ear, "I need you to go and find
six diving suits, masks, and air tanks and meet us at the toilet where
you found the second bomb." The teenager nodded and ran off. "Dren,
you come with me."
"Just what are you planning?" the hampster asked.
"Trust me," Dirk replied with a large smile on his face. White Wolf
became a very uneasy hampster.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Dirk and Dren were standing in the engine room with a several bottles
of the Enriam brew. They were filling the sub's fuel tanks, as well
as their own tanks, with the beverage. "I told you this was good
stuff," Dirk said between gulps. Dren nodded in aggrement.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
"We're speeding up, Commander," Kayn shouted to White Wolf.
A voice crackled over the radio, "Could White Wolf, Allie, and Kayn
meet their fellow crew members at the Officer's WC." They all left
their positions to meet Dirk, Dren, and Mike.
"Now we can take our ship back," the Enriam Captain stated as they
left. "Slow this sub down and change course. We're going to blow up
their vesself ourselves."
"I can't, sir!" yelled the Enriam who took Kayn's place. "We can't
slow down and are going to fast to turn in time."
----------------------------------------------------------------------
"What's this all about?" White Wolf asked the three, who were already
in the scuba gear.
"We're getting out of here," Dren said as he through White Wolf and
Kayn their gear. "These loan sharks have collected their last payment."
Dirk pulled out the ziplock bag from earlier, "Your coach awaits,
madamme." Allie deactivated her light bee and was stored in the bag.
"The way I've got it figured, we've got two minutes before the sub
rams the Enriam ivading force and approximatly one minute fifty-eight
seconds before the engines explode under the stress brought on by the
introduction of alcohol into the system. Either way, this party is
about to go bust; so it's time for us to make our departure. Grab
hold of something." Dirk, Dren and Mike grabbed a bar. Kayn and
White Wolf complied. "We'll go in groups. Kayn, you and Mike carry
White Wolf. We'll follow."
"I'm not sure if I like...," the hampster didn't get to finish his
sentence before Dirk pushed the button and opened the WC door. The
sea water flowed in quickly. More was entering throught the hole in
the hull.
As the water filled the corridor, Dren said to Dirk, "If we're going
to try this hair-brained scheme, I'm glad that you're the one that I'm
teamed up with."
Dirk, waiting for the catch, said in a deadpan voice, "Don't tell me,
because we're such good friends and have been through some much
together, right?"
"No. It's because I'm not a strong swimmer."
The group took their turn exiting through the hole. Mike and Kayn
helped pull the hampster to the surface while Dirk and Dren followed.
They broke through the water in time to see the explosion caused by
their formerly captive sub crashing into the bulk of the Enriam
envasion force. "Oooohh! Pretty!" Dirk commented on the bright
oranges and reds of the flames.
Dren, being his naturally lazy self, said aloud, "Wow, that's a long
swim back to the Dwarf from here."
OOC-the task of wrapping up our sub adventure was laid upon me, so i
have complied. kayn, dren, ww, mike, or allie please finish our last
lap(that's a bad pun) back to the bd
