Fish and Chips
<Parrotts>
Zack returned with the salad and the last of the danishes and
set them on the table when the red alert went off.
Cubie cocked her head and listened. "For Pete's sake. Are we
destined to be forever unemployed?!" She skated across the water and
out the door, looking for someone to beat the daylights out of.
The other patrons of Parrotts sloshed out the door as well,
leaving Zack alone with a couple drunks staring at a vial and
giggling. Then the door opened, and two Eniram entered, brandishing
weapons that looked as if they would hurt quite a bit. The black
barbs seemed a particularly nasty touch.
"Can I get you anyth-" Zack dove behind the counter as a trident
flashed over his head. Cursing, he rolled up under the bar, making
sure to keep clear of the water as best he could. Then he reached
over and turned on the microwave.
Sparks flew, and the water sizzled. Zack listened to the
screams of the Eniram as they reacted to the voltage from the flooded
microwave. He felt a tingle, but nothing extreme, so he let the
microwave run through an entire 'popcorn' setting. Gritting his
teeth, he waited for the ding, then popped up and peered over the bar.
The Eniram were floating face-up in the water, their eyes
bulging and their limbs twitching from lingering spasms. He noticed
that they were still apparently breathing, so he dragged them to the
freezer and hung them up on meathooks by the backs of their uniforms,
then closed the door.
He peered out the door onto the promenade, and spotted Cubie
skimming across the top of the water, whacking fleeing Eniram with a
fire extinguisher.
Zack was amazed. Where did she find a fire extinguisher?
