The huge hamster glanced that the group, and "Ok, you heard the git.
I realise we don't have a nifty 'non interference Prime Directive'
here to worry, but I hope you do realise what we decide here does
have import to what happens on this stupid planet. Personally, I'm
already in favor of helping them, just so we can save the Blue Dwarf
and get off this wretched planet. But I want to hear what each of you
think we should do in this moral dilemma, before I make any rash
orders."

"Let 'em go to Hell," was Dirk's response. "I really can't understand how
they've had a war. If the Enriam keep submerged in the sea and the Aerons keep
to the sky, how have they battled. It seems to me, especially since there have
been no captives or even corpses for the two sides to even know what the other
looks like, that all they've done is just been angry at each other."
The others began to comtemplate what he said. "You heard the head rooster
yourself. These guys want to rule the entire planet. It's not a war over
issues. It's about ego. If we give these guys an Enriam sub, we're just
signing the JMC into this war also."
"I understand your point," White Wolf said, "but what about the Blue Dwarf. How
will we get back to it and get it flying?"
"We don't need these guys," Dirk pulled the key he lifted from the Mike and
showed it to the rest. "I've been studying it. It's not the old tumbler
system. It's electronic, and very simple at that. With a little tweeking, I'm
almost positive that I can open any door in this joint."
"Where'd you get that?" Mike asked.
"Not important right now," Dirk answered.
"What about the tractor beam?" Kayn asked.
"I'm sure, with a little help from White Wolf and Allie, that I can override
that too." Everyone wanted to know how he could do that. Dirk quickly
explained that the tractor beam more than likely worked on the principals of
magnetism, and that he could rig a system to change the Starbug's hull's
polarity to make the tractor beam push the bug away and not pull it. "And as
far as getting the big Blue out of the big blue and back into the even bigger
black, there are a lot of competent people on board the Dwarf. I'm sure
everything is running smoothly and they've got it all under control." There was
an uneasy moment of silence following this statement.
"Birdmen! Fishmen! What's next?!" exclaimed Mike.
"I don't know; but if I find a crumbled Statue of Liberty on the beach out
there, everyone dies!" were Dirk's last remarks in the conference.
