Mike looked down in the ground
"Geez, this is embarrasing" he mumbled to himself.
"Well?" Dirk asked.
"I guess I'll stay. I just wanted to do something useful"
"Don't worry, Mike" replied Kayn.
Mike walked in and slumped in the corner and kept to himself.

Dirk walked over to the kid and sat beside him. "Don't let it get to you, kid.
You were just trying to help the team. You should be proud of what you
accomplished." Dirk patted him on the back with one hand, and used his other to
lift one of the keys and slip it into his boot without anyone noticing.
A large group of guards showed up at the door. Their faces showed utter
disbelief when they saw that all of the prisoners were still there. After a
moment of silence, one of the guards pointed to Mike and said, "That one! That
one there!" The soldiers began to make their way into the cell.
"Hold it, flyboys," Dirk said. "The kid didn't mean anything by it. See.
Here's your keys and your little pop-gun." He tossed the items to the guards.
"We'll still have to punish him for his impudence," the leader said as he walked
towards Mike.
"Listen, Bub," Dirk said as he stepped inbetween the guard and the boy, "I've
already told you, he didn't mean it. He's just a kid. This is the first time
he's ever been in any kind of advernturous situation. He just wanted to play
the hero. Come on. You've got to remember what it was like when you were
young. You had your little sparrow hat on, runnin' around on your chicken legs,
croweing your little heart out."
The guard became angry and lifted Dirk up by his collar. The Aeron's big nose
pointing in Dirk's face. "I'll not tell you again to watch your mouth. You may
be an idiot in the Dr.'s eyes, but I can see past that. I'll crush you with my
own bare hands, if you just give me a reason." The moment of silence that
followed was broken when Dirk blew the guard a kiss. The Aeron quickly released
him and ran out of the cell, slamming it shut behind him.
Dirk rested his arms on the bars and watched the guards walk away. He then
turned to Allie and said, "I think he's going to ask me to the prom." He then
broke into laughter.
Allie looked at White Wolf, who was almost over the effects of the drugs, and
asked, "Is he always like this?"
"You have to consider that this is only the second away mission I've been on
with him and am not qualified to really make a judgement call. But, from what
I've observed of him, yes."
"That's it!" the voice was back again. "You've really done it this time! You
had everything under control, then you just throw it all away! Can't you take
any responsibility for more than ten minutes?!" Dirk just ignored the voices.
He was revealing in his accomplishments: gaining possesion of the key to the
cell, and the total aggrivation of one of his captures. There was another plus
to being here too. At least he was on solid ground and not in space. 'God, how
I hate space,' he thought to himself.
