There\'s a hole in my bucket, dear Henry.
Who:- Zodar, Repair Teams, Jay
Where:- Outside the ship
When:- Somewhere between the beginning and the end of time, preferably towards the beginning...
"Chris!" shouted Jay over in Zodars direction, "Can you take care of the hull sealing?, use whoever you need"
Zodar turned around to pass on the order to the other engi's.
"Ok, guys and gals, the hull needs sealing. And while I'm not in any real position to give you orders, I suggest you do what I say. This ship is filling up with water faster than you can say, 'We're sinking, we're all doomed to end up in watery graves *blub blub*', and I suggest you all work together towards getting this hull patched up unless you want to sing 'Under the Sea' in your sleeping quarters. Got it?"
Blank looks suggested that he should provide more direction.
"Alright, listen up. Form groups of two or three and begin to patch up the holes. There's enough of them, so don't start fighting over who gets the smaller ones. The fact is, the holes are all bloody huge, so just get on with it. I'll be working here on this section if anyone has any questions."
The engineers scattered to fix the hull. One engineer approached Zodar.
"Sorry to bother you, sir, but how are we to fix the underwater section?" Asked the engineer.
"There's some liquid metal flasks over there, it's super heated in the flask so when it comes out it's a molten metal. Then you use these gloves," Zodar handed the engineer some thick gloves made of a strange material, "and mould the metal, before it cools, into the cracks. For the large holes use the water proof blowtorches and the sheets of metal from the platform over there. Also, if you plan to dive under to fix the totally submerged areas, for goodness' sake, use the SCUBA gear. This kind of training isn't covered at the academy because, well, a Dwarfstar class mining ship has never actually been in this kind of situation before, so be careful."
"Thanks!" Said the engineer as he made his way to the floating platform to begin his work.
"I love this liquid metal... Like putty at first, then after a minute, solid as a rock." Zodar said to himself as he put on his LM Gloves.
A few hours passed. The engineering crew moved with pace. They didn't like the idea of having to sleep with the fish.
Chris finished patching up the hole in front of him and tried to move over to the platform to get more supplies, but his foot slipped on the slightly wet hull and was twisted upside down in his harness. His foot had snared on the cable above him and it prevented him from moving. Chris undid his harness in an attempt to free himself, but it only made the cable around his foot tighten. He was hanging helpless. It was late in the afternoon, maybe even night for all Chris could tell and the other engineers had knocked off early so they weren't around to help him. Jay was making a final pass on the Jet ski around the ship to make sure there were no problems. He was looking forward to his date.
"Ummmm.... Jaaaaaaaaaay..." Chris called out in a whimpering tone, he knew this would be an inconvenience for Jay but he didn't plan on hanging there all night.
"A little help... please... buddy....."
