That sinking feeling

Joe's Quarters:
Joe came to on his bed in his quarters, it was a couple of days after his
party in 'Parrots' and he had been in a near comatose state ever since he
got the bill. He opened his eyes and let out a shrill cry of fear as he saw
a huge 6ft spider hanging above his head. He then realised that while he
was unconcious someone had thought it would be funny to put an eyepatch over
his left eye, so he was currently only looking through the eye that he used
for seeing things in more detail. He removed the eyepatch and saw that the
spider was only actually about a as big as a small peanut.
He looked out of his window and was extremely surprised when he saw a fish
swim past. 'What the hell is going on' Joe thought.
He was unconscious at the time that the ship crashed into the ocean so he
didn't realise that the ship was sinking until he got out of bed into a
couple of inches of water.
He quickly got out of the rubber pyjamas that somebody had put him in when
he was unconcious (probably the same person who gave him the eyepatch), into
his security uniform and headed towards the meeting room.
The Meeting Room:
"...So has anybody got any suggestions?"
"Get a lot of buckets and start bailing out and learn how to swim" said Joe,
his mind wasn't working very well at the moment he still had a hangover from
the party. Everybody gave Joe a puzzled look.
"Sorry, that's a stupid idea" said Joe "We could cut down lots of trees and
strap them to the bottom of the Blue Dwarf so it can float"
"Do you have any idea how much this ship weighs" said Jay, "We would need at
least 60 Amazon rainforests to do something like that"
"Sorry, i'm not thinking straight this morning, we could fill the Dwarf with
helium and..." Joe idea was cut off by a slap round the back of the head.
