Re: A meeting with the captain (cont)
Who: Cerebrum, Appendix
Where: Psychiatric Offices
"...and so basically, the Captain's going to link our funding to our
performance. We do well, we get more money; we do poorly, I'm
flipping burgers at MacDonalds while plotting how to hideously
revenge myself upon the Captain," Cerebrum told the Appendix,
finishing up his summary on the meeting
[It actually makes sense his idea, making funding dependant on
performance. It would encourage you to have good performance.]
"Well, yes, of course it's a great idea and I'm sure it would work
splendidly for the science or security department, but this is
psychiatry. Our performance is dependant on our funding."
[Why?]
"Because top-end psychiatric equipment costs more and more every
year. Now, if we want to help people, we're going to need a plan.
Throw ideas at me, no mather how ridiculous, so we can get all the
possibilities out on the table."
[Manufacture our own equipment?]
"Actually, that's a pretty good idea. If we buy the parts of the
equipment and then assemble it, that'll cost up to fifty percent less
than the actual equipment. Any other ideas?"
[Beg some medi-bay equipment off of Dr Keto?]
"I didn't mean that ridiculous."
[Why not? It might work.]
"It might, except there's one glaring problem with the plan."
[What's that]
"I would have to beg the equipment off of Dr Keto."
[Hmm, I see what you mean.]
"Right, now we're going to make this the best psychiatric department
in the JMC or have Dr Keto die trying. You take care of the next
patient while I put in some orders with our new budget.
