**Action post** "Calm in the storm before the metaphorical storm"

On the planet Ffion
 
Commander Niples lead the remainders of his group. Most had been separated and one had been killed. The survivers of the last ordel were making their way back to their ships, hoping to get off this hostile environment. Beside Niples, Major Harris mumbled about why they had to come to this planet anyway'.
"Can anyone actually remember where we parked the Starbug?" complained Phil.
"I do know where we're going you know!" said Niples, turning to face his downtrodden and miserable team members.
"Oh yeah, where is it then?" snapped Marlene.
Seymour moved his head around for a few seconds and then pointed in the direction his instincts told him.
"There" he shouted.
 
The winds suddenly sropped and the sand in the air floated back down to the ground, allowing the visibility to improve vastly.
Directly where Seymour was pointing was a huge mountain.
"ok, maybe it wasn't there..." he said.
 
It was then when the security officer called "Deathwish" heard a quiet muttering coming from a nearby crater.
He called Harris over and the entire group followed to see what was going on.
Ensign Kayn Bestrom was lying asleep in front of them, squirming and moaning at someone in his dream state.
 
"Wake him up." ordered Commander Niples.
"Erm... with what?" asked Major Harris.
"I dunno" snapped Seymour. "Splash some water on him or something, use the water in your flask."
Harris was about to reach for the water in his flask but then he had a better idea. "Deathwish, give me your flask!" Harris ordered.
"but..." protested Deathwish.
"Now!"
"but thats...." said Deathwish again.
"Now!" growled Harris, snatching the flask off him and splashing it all over Kayn.
"but thats not water!" said Deathwish, finishing the sentance.
 
Kayn woke up and started spitting the water out.
 
"What was it then?" asked Phil.
"Well you know a few hours ago when I really needed to go...." said the security officer, tailing off in mid-sentance and everyone started groaning and putting their hands over their mouths.
 
"Ugh! that tastes like...." started Kayn.

Meanwhile on the Blue Dwarf
 
"Captains log
Date- Sunday 22nd of October...erm.. point 2
 
 Today I met a nice new man called White Wolf- but its alright, he's not actually a wolf. That would be silly wouldn't it!
He's actually a hamster.
I don't really know what he does on the ship yet, but he probably has a better job than me, I get to look after the ship while Seymour has all of the fun on the planet. I bet he's really having a good time down there- thats why they call it an 'Away party'.
 
I know my ships logs havn't been very useful lately, but thats because nothing exciting has been happening, besides I've been too busy with the polymorphs, giant chickens and invasions we've been having lately.
I think I'm getting piles again.
I'm off to the medical centre to see if the new doctor has any ointment.

Back on Ffion
In the Starbug.
 
Nik Florentyn warmed his hands on the electric heater in the aft section of the ship. All he had to do was wait until the team came back "Stay here" the commander had told him. "We won't be long" he had also said.
Nik had lost track of the time, but this was definately pushing the definition of "soon".
 
Then he heard a loud noise from outside. He looked out of the window and saw a huge insect chewing on the Blue Midget next to the Starbug.

Commander Niples' group
 
"Where have you been?" asked Niples, "it's been days since we last saw you."
 
"I dunno" muttered Kayn. "I just got knocked on the head and I woke up here with a pain in my ass....."
"A pain in your ass?" asked Harris.
"Yeah, and a ringing in my ears..."
 
"maybe you were abducted..... by aliens." joked the gorgeous but insane Private Penny Lloyd.
Kayns face went pale.
 
The wind dropped again, there was silence- a silence so silent it was deafening. If stopped everyone from talking.
"Uh oh" said Harris, looking through his binoculars. In the distance was a wall of marauding bugs, many digging up the sand as they ran. Some hovvering above their crawling counterparts and swarming together.
 
Then a voice was carried over the wind, it was dramatic and deep- but far enough away to be quietened.
 
"FLEE PAWNS, BISHOPS AND HORSEYS OF THE DEVIL! GO TO HULL* WHORES OF SATAN'S BROTHEL!"
Hull? Wasn't that a place up north in England? Niples wondered. Then looked to where the voice was coming from, three figures stood ready at the bottom of the hill waiting for the minions of bugs to ascend on them.
The group ran as fast as they could towards James, Doom and the wierd looking guy, each wanting a piece of the action. But when they had arrived it was too late for the first wave. All bugs layed dead, paving a sloppy, bloody path for Niples' group to walk their way over.
 
Cowering in a crater, they found James Johnson babbling like a babboon and nursing his head.
 
A dark shadow moved over the land.
 
One by one, they all looked up. It was big, it was black. It was exactly the same shape as the ship they had seen in the asteroid field.
 
Niples gasped, "What the hell is that!" Niples wonderred."One big muvva," Harrison said shaking his head."These are insects right?" James said rubbing the mountainous bump that had erupted on his head."Well, actually no, insects only have six legs while..." the nurse began."But they're similar. I mean, if these are like insects, doesn't it make sense they might have a queen?""Either that or they go for blimps in a big way..." Harris snarled.
 
The huge object hung there in the sky. It didn't look as though it was alive, but it looked too organic to look like a constructed ship. Seymour wondered if it was a mixture of both, but one thing he knew for sure- he wanted a picture of it.
 
"Anyone brought a camera?" he asked. There was no response, his photographic evidence would have to wait- for now.A beam of the darkest light they had ever seen emerged from the ship, it seemed to suck the light out of the entire planet, plunging them all into darkness.
 
From the ground.
From the ship.
From the air.
 
The bugs came.
 
Fortunately Ace Rimmer was in the area.
