Run Down

Who: Cerebrum, elephant, miscellaneous crewmembers
Where: Hallway outside medi-bay
When: Right after
Cerebrum was walking along the hallway, concocting new plots to
acquire a budget for the psychiatric division (unfortunately, all of
the legitimate plots involved the presence of the captain, hence he
was working on the slightly less legitimate ones), when the medi-bay
doors got knocked down and an elephant burst into the hallway.
Cerebrum heard the commotion, turned around and saw the elephant
running down the hallway towards him.
"It's just a delusion," Cerebrum calmly told himself in the tone of a
man who had seen this before, "It can't hurt me and it'll vanish
before it reaches me."
Other members of the crew in the same hallway were currently running
as quickly as they could down it, diving into doorways and jumping
down staircases, obviously not aware that it would disappear before
it hit Cerebrum.
Wait a minute, Cerebrum thought. I'm usually the only one who can see
these things. Now either I'm mentally projecting these delusions to
other people; or that elephant is real, which is also unlikely
because elephants are extinct and you usually don't find elephants in
the hallways of mining ships. Then he ruled out option A since he had
just taken his pills. That means, Cerebrum thought, that the elephant
is real and I'm standing in the middle of the hallway like an idiot
waiting for it to hit me.
After this quick deduction using logic, Cerebrum made a frantic dash
for a nearby door, but the elephant had used the delay in time while
Cerebrum was thinking to narrow the gap between them to half a meter.
It then narrowed it to zero meters and ran him over.
After this short period of excitement, Cerebrum was lying on his back
in the hallway, slightly injured. He only had one sententence to say.
"I'll be damned, it was real."
He then slowly got to his feet and slowly (and painfully) started
walking towards the psychiatric offices.
