Who: Patrick Cerebrum
Where: Psychiatric offices
When: 29:74, time to get a new watch
Cerebrum watched as the cart rolled down the hallway, ran down two
crewmembers who weren't quick enough to get out of the way and then
went down a staircase. It might have been a mistake to push it, he
mused, and then went back in the psychiatric offices to avoid being
seen and/or caught by the crewmembers who were starting to get up.
After carefully shutting off the jury-rigged electro-shock device, he
placed the holographic control and coordination system on his desk.
It was time to see how it worked and how to could be redesigned to do
psychiatric work. He opened up a panel on the side and looked in.
Five minutes later. The only thing Cerebrum had ascertained was that
there were a lot of circuit thingies in an HC&C system. Poking around
with a screwdriver further solidified this fact.
"Oops"
An additional fact was discovered, the circuit thingies break if they
were poked hard enough with a screwdriver. He promptly closed the
HC&C up and placed it in the corner.
In the meantime, he had heard vaguely that Dr Keto was involved in
some sort of Big Brother competition. Maybe his replacement in the
medi-bay would be more willing to donate medical funding for
psychiatric research. And if not, he could ransom the 'borrowed'
medical equipment for funding.
He turned to the Appendix, "Appendix, you're in charge until I get
back. See to the patients, but please don't let any delusionals see
you. I've had enough problems so far."
"Very well then. I shall do my utmost to maintain the high standards
of the psychiatric profession while you're gone," thought the
Appendix at him.
"What high standards? I'm running this place. There are no standards,
and if they were, they certainly wouldn't be high. Not with my track
record."
"Fine, I'll just try to cure insane people then, hopeless as that may
be on this ship."
"Much better. I'll be gone for about fifteen minutes."
Cerebrum stood up and walked out, entered the lift and went down to
the medi-bay."
