"Well Captain" said Jay "As you may or may not know, I served on the
Red Dwarf beofre transferring off about a month before it
disappeared, thats why I signed on for Blue Dwarf."
he pointed at the screen. "this guy was on the Red Dwarf too, he was a
technician, I used to play pool with him sometimes" Joe grimaced at
that comment...he'd played jay too
"Whats his name?" asked Alota
"Chen"
White wolf radioed Harris...

The video fuzzed with interferance and blacked out.
"Damn it!" Zodar cursed. "Sir, we've lost the video."
"WHAT?!" Cried White Wolf as he looked up from the radio.
"Hang on..." Zodar checked the Black Box interface.
"It's been damaged. Probably from when the pod crashed." Chris looked
the unit over. "I might be able to fix it, sir."
"Well, make it fast. Those beasts weren't playing with us. There will
be more of them."
"I know. It's gonna take me a while to get it fully operational, by
the looks of it. A long while, if I can fix it at all..."
"Well, is there anything else in the pod we can get info out of while
we wait?"
"You can check, but everything in there was damaged, warped or
destroyed in the crash landing."
White Wolf called to the crew, "Go and see what you can find in
there. I want photos, journals, personal belongings... whatever you
can salvage."
The team walked over and began to inspect the pod.
Not long after, Shakespeare held up a slightly burnt device so it
glistened in the light. "It would seem as though Jay was right!"
"what do you mean?" Jay inquired.
Shakespeare lowered the device out of the bright light. It was an
electonic log. On the base the name "Chen" was written in thick black
marker.
"This is Chen's personal log. This could be 'handy'."
"But we already have the Black Box. What do we need the log for?" DJ
asked.
"If Chen survived, he would have made an entry." Shakespeare
explained.
"But the Black Box would have recorded that."
Zodar stepped forward. "No. Shakespeare's right. The Black Box
recording would have recorded the interior of the pod until impact
and the statistics of flight, such as the date and..."
White Wolf jumped in "...Perhaps what happened on Red Dwarf."
"Exactly, but if we are to know what happened to Chen after the
crash, we may need the log. It's a little damaged, but it's your
call, White Wolf." Zodar finished, awaiting a response.
