Are we there yet?

The three rafts of Away Team 2 steered towards the river bank. The crew
unloaded the rafts and took up their share of lugging it up a steep slope to
where the crash site was supposed to be.
They came to the top of the hill and saw the wreckage. It seemed to Dirk that
most of the wreckage was buried deep under the earth. Large pillars of charred
and misshaped metal stuck out of the ground. The ground around it was upturned
and hard to walk on. "Looks like it's been here for a while," he said.
"What do you mean?" asked Kayn.
"Look," Dirk pointed to the ground around the wreckage. "Weeds have started to
grow around it. If it had crashed even just six months ago, the ground wouldn't
be able to support plant life." He bent down and plucked an eight leaf clover
off the ground. "It brought a lot of radiation with it too." Dirk stuck the
clover in his pocket(if a four leaf clover is lucky, an eight leaf must be twice
as lucky).
"Smegg!" Harris shouted. "I want you to check this out. Tell me what every you
can find out about it. Like where it came from."
