Joe's Nightwatch

Who:Team 1
When: Prevous Night (before Harris' radio contact)
With that, Jay stood, and crawled inside his tent, leaving the groups safety
in the hands of Schweeble.

Joe sat in the tree staring out at the jungle and quietly humming Frank
Sinatra songs, he'd noticed everyone else drop off to sleep about an hour
ago and was quite happy sitting on his branch humming and listening to the
sounds of the crickets (at least he guessed they were crickets) and strange
night birds.
Suddenly all the noises stopped except for Joes humming which faded out
slowly as he noticed the silence around him. It was an eerie and unnatural
silence. He saw movement in the shadows slightly to the left and infront of
him, so he closed hi left eye and stared at that area but there didn't seem
to be anything there. Then again, movement, this time slightly to the right.
He looke in that direction and saw nothing. It must have been his mind
making imaginary assailants out of the shadows. But he had the feeling of
being watched and an involuntary shudder went up his back and a the hairs on
his neck pricked up.
A few hours later Joe dosed off, as soon as he had done three big, evil
looking ape things came out of the forest and walked around the camp
stopping at each member of the away team and sniffing them hungrily.
Suddenly there was a snapping sound folloed by a cry of suprise as the
branch Joe was on snapped and he fell to the floor. The noise starled the
ape things and they sped off back into the Jungle without being seen.
----Hours later after Harris' radio message----
Jay Chrysler stood, throwing his empty bean tin to the ground. "Well,
the longer we wait around here, the more likely these creatures will
find us. I suggest we proceed now, with extreme caution."
DJ glanced at the disposed tin. "You're not gonna leave that there,
are you?"

"Whitewolf, sir, i think you should see this" Joe said, from a crouched
possition by the tents.
Whitewolf walked over and bent down next to Joe.
Joe pointed out a large footprint "It seems like those ape things may have
found us last night" Joe said as he pointed out more footprints around all
the tents "But if they did i'm not sure why they didn't attack us, it's
almost as if their intelligent, like they have some kind of tactic. They
may even be watching us now" Joe said and looked around uneasily.
"Thanks Joe, Right everyone, pack up, we're moving out, there's a long walk
ahead of us and i don't think it's too safe to stay aroung here much
longer."
