Emergency?
Chris took a sip of his beer. "So, what do you like to do in your
spare time?"
Outside the bar there was quite a lot of movement: the panic type.
DJ's attention was drawn to the exit.
"Something's not right. I'll go and find out what's wrong." DJ got up
to leave. Chris held her arm.
"Be sure to come back and tell me what the problem is, if there
really is one... For example, I don't want to be left here sitting on
my butt if there's some sort of explosion on Blue Dwarf that's gonna
destroy the whole ship, ok?" Chris said with a laugh.
"Yeah, ok. I'll get the message to you somehow."
They looked outside again at the people.
DJ was absolutely sure. "There's definately something very wrong
here. I'll see you later, Chris."
DJ ran off to find the security team and get the official word about
what was happening.
Chris sat, finished his beer and took a look around. Everything was
normal in the bar. People were drinking, laughing, having
conversations with friends; all the things you'd expect. Things just
looked too...'normal' for anything to be wrong. Perhaps, if there was
something wrong, the knowledge was being withheld to keep everyone
calm.
Perhaps...
Or maybe everyone else on the ship had been told to evacuate and the
bar was forgotten in the rush.
Nah.
Everyone chills at Parrott's. They'd be stupid not to come here first
in such a scenario.
"I think I'll just wait for DJ to return before I go anywhere." Chris
said to himself as he rested against the bar. "This is where she'll
expect me to be if she comes back."
