Frank Harris 'Mail call'
Blue Dwarf
21/09/2100
Security office
Around 8ish
Harris looked at the pile of paperwork on his desk and throught to himself 'bloody hell!'
The Major had given up on the weekly security reports and passed that duty onto Jackson but that was only the tip of the iceberg. Never before had he had to deal with so much paperwork and most of it was complaints about the security staff, but there were still the usual security write-ups and forms to fill in for every person they caught committing a crime.
At least he now had a helper as Lloyd was no longer on KP duty but he had drafted her to what all security officers hated above all else, including internal affairs, paperwork!
Harris watched as Lloyd stamped a form about the owner of the 'Black Eye' bar was watering down his drinks. Frankly, Harris didn't care that the owner of the BE was watering down his drinks since is was the only place on the ship where the security staff could drink and not end up ratarsed and start brawling with one another.
The door to the office opened and in stepped a crewman carrying a sack. He cowered at the sight of Harris and called. "Mail call."
"Mail call?" Lloyd enquired.
"Yea." The crewman answered. "Mail pod arrived a hour ago. Let's see, five for you, Penny."
"Thank you." Lloyd said as she took a mixture of letters.
"There's a letter from the Outland Revenue and a video letter for you, Major." The Crewman said handing Harris his mail. He waited for a moment before Harris simply told him to naff off.
The crewman took this as the best he was going to get and left.
"The Outland Revenue?!" Lloyd asked.
Harris opened the letter from the Outland Revenue and read 'Dear Frank Harris
blah, blah, blah
we have reviewed your career and we wish to inform you
blah, blah
to offer you the job as debt collector
please return a reply by the 19 September." Harris just rolled the letter into a ball and threw it into a bin in the corner of the room, he merely commented. "No wonder no one was every managed to pay their debts on time."
"Want me to put the video on, gov?" Lloyd asked as she examined the last of Harris' mail.
Harris just glared at Lloyd, he hadn't said much since Bob, the captain's rat, had drugged him and he had a stoned rampage throught the cargo desks trying to smash bright green rabbits that weren't really there. Lloyd simply took Harris' silence as a yes and loaded up the video.
The screen went blank for a moment and then the image of a young woman with light ginger hair appeared on screen. The ginger haired woman started. "Hi Frank
"
"Pause!" Harris ordered. The image of the woman froze and Harris looked at Lloyd knowing she was going to ask questions.
"So's who the woman who can get away with calling you Frank, Major?" Lloyd asked.
"Sharon Dimmock **twitch**." Harris answered. "Ex-girlfriend."
"You had a girlfriend, get away!" Lloyd said with a grin and then she asked. "What's with the twitch?"
"What with the twitch, gov?" Harris said calmly.
"Dimmock." Lloyd said and sure enough, Harris' face twitched. "That twitch."
"Play!" Harris ordered.
The image of Sharon began to move again. "
what can I say, long time no see. I would have tried to contact you earlier but I was stationed on one of the deep space recon ships and I only got back a few days ago. Look I know you don't what to talk to me after the way I reacted like I did, but I am stationed at Nova station in sector 21 and if you are ever in that area of space, please drop by for a visit." The screen went black again.
"What happened between you two?" Lloyd asked not really expecting an answer.
"Her sister kissed me as Sharon just happened to have walked into the room." Harris said, surprising Lloyd that he answered her question. "She throught I had been cheating behind her back with her sister and ended the relationship, hadn't heard from her since."
"Sounds like she wants to get back together." Lloyd said.
Harris got up from behind his desk and unloaded the video, then dropped it into the bin. "Not going to happen, get back to work!"
"Ok, gov." Lloyd as she went back to her pile of paperwork. "Gov?"
"What?!" Harris snapped.
"Why did you tell me this?" Lloyd asked. "I thought you would just shout at me to get back to work."
Harris merely said nothing and went back to his pile of paperwork.
