Schweebler vs. Antibot - Afterwards, In The Pits
"So Joe, you didn't do too well this time" said Lister "What went
wrong?"
"Well, as you can see the Schweebler is ermmm, well, kinda liquefied,
but i'll be back next year with the Schweebler II"
"And Chris, your'e through to the next round, How do you feel?" asked
Lister.
"Smeggin' brilliant, i didn't doubt my robot for a minute" said Chris.
Chris wasn't the type of person who was used to taking praise for
long, so he ended the interview as fast as he could. He wanted to get
back to the pit. The Antibot was still phase shifted in antimatter
mode and no body knew how long the generator could hold out for.
I mean, come on, it was invented by members of his own family... It
must have a fault somewhere, especially if Zodar himself had
constructed it...
Chris ran down to the pits, only to see a wire starting to melt on
Anitbots shoulder.
"Oh SMEG! Let's turn you off now..."
Zodar cleared the pits of all personnel and ran to get clear of the
blast radius. Chris gave the signal and Antibot gave a huge burst of
heat, vaporising the metal table nearby and the tools on it.
But, the problem was fixed.
Chris ran over to Antibot and hooked analytical devices to it's
manual interfaces. A computer (which he borrowed from the next pit
because everything in this pit was a puddle on the floor) gave the
readings on Antibots main systems.
Holly appeared in an unued part of the screen.
"Hey, Chris. Nice match, dude."
"Thanks, Hol."
"Looks like books rule after all. Isn't that right, brother?"
"Sure do, Hol."
"How's it looking?" Said Holly, referring to the Antibot readouts.
"Well, Antibot will live to fight another day. Just some charred
relays, that's about all."
"So you can fix it?"
"I'm pretty sure I can. I might have to place another call to my
cousin to do a complete repair, but I think I can handle it."
"Great. Look, I have to go now. There's some interesting stuff
happening on Blue Dwarf, and I don't want to miss out on seeing it..."
"Ok, see ya 'round Hol."
Holly's image disappeared from the screen.
"Nice AI, that Holly..." Chris said, and continued to check the data
on Antibot.
"I wonder where Joe is. I want to apologise about how I sort of,
well, melted his Schweebler. I hope he hasn't taken it hard..."
