Dirk handed Dren the fifty and went back to his workout. A half hour later he
returned to his quarters to find his toliet completely backed up with toliet
paper. "That smeghead! I ought to throw everything he owns out of an airlock!
That is, if he owned anything!" Dirk then left Dren a "nice" note about how HE
had better fix the toliet with "YOU BROKE IT. YOU FIX IT," at the bottom.
Then, Dirk took a shower and went for a drink.
Dirk stopped before he got to the Parrot's. He was still pretty stressed and
didn't really want to have to deal with anyone. Besides, if Phil decided to
press charges, that's the first place they'd look for him. He didn't want to go
to the brig, at least not before he ate. Lord knows he didn't want to eat
prison food. It always gave him gas. Instead, he went walking around on Deck
4. He saw that the cinema wasn't busy. He walked up to buy a ticket, but no
one was there to take his money. "Must be public domain." Dirk walked in,
grabbed a bag of popcorn(hmmmm....fresh with extra butter), and walked into the
theater.
"Well, now, ain't that a shame!" sounded as he walked through the door. At
first, Dirk took it personally, until he saw who had said it. On the screen,
larger than life was a man by the name of John Wayne. He had read many history
books about him. Apparently he fought the Mexicans at the Alamo, the Nazis on
Normandy beach, the Japanese in the Pacific, the Communists in Korea, and scores
of Indian nations in the U.S. He sure did get around.
Dirk looked around to see dozens of service bots in the seats, watching and
cheering the film. It reminded him of that ancient Christmas classic movie that
he had seen once before. Gremlins, if he recalled correctly.
He took the nearest available seat and propped his feet up on the chair in front
of him(until a scutter turned and looked at him from the seat). He munched on
his popcorn and watched. Two scutters were making whirring noises to each other
a couple of seats down. "Hey! Are you done? I'm trying to watch a movie here!
Shhhhh!"
Three movies came and went. All of then were John Wayne. During the
fourth(Rooster Cogburn, if I'm not mistaken), Dirk fell asleep in his chair.
