(26/1- that's good isn't it?) > >**Pre-Action** >OOC-This is basically just a list of things that people can be doing to prepare for the competition. > >The day of the great Robot Wars competition was drawing closer, people were not only busy making their own robots, but someone also had to create the arena the robots would be fighting in, and put some seats around the arena so that the audience could see the action. > >One of the shuttle landing bays was chosen to be the arena, as it had high-up windows which looked down on the bay floor, ideal for competitors to control their robots from by remote control. >As usual, it was Chief Engineer Lt. Cmdr Smegg who arranged a team to transform the Landing bay into a battlefield worthy or the mechanical killers that had been constructed. > >Jay and Kayn being the senior pilots moved the Starbugs and other shuttlecraft from the bay and parked them wherever they found room. > >Being the only person onboard with TV experience, Dren Walker was automatically chosen to be one of the hosts. Allie had been searching the holographic store-room and the only holographic disks she had access to was one of TV presenter Lisa Riley and a crewman called Dave Lister (whose disk was only there because it had been mixed up with the Red Dwarf's disks before both ships were commissioned for their first flight). As Lisa Riley would probably take up too much space and bore everyone to death with her incredibly bad jokes, they decided to give the Lister hologram a try. Allie enlisted the help of Alotta to test out the hologram, and it turned out that Lister's file had been corrupted and he wasn't much of a 'people-person'. So they decided that he should just be the announcer and will spend all of the match stood up on an overhanging balcony rather than getting in the real action. >Which was left up to Dren. > >He was the one who would be talking to the competitors to see how their robots were working etc (like Phillipa Forrester/ that Blonde lass from Robot wars and also like that airhead from Battlebots). The program would be broadcast live throughout the entire ship, so, not much pressure on anyone. (The TV broadcast would be sponsored by Mckenzies of course!) > >Although through all this preparation, nobody had thought about any kind of rules, besically- there were none. Or not many at least. The robots would simply go head to head, and depending on if there was an odd number of competitors, there may have to be a 3-man eliminator. The winners would go on to the semi-final, and then to the grand final. > > > >************************ > >OOC- everyone should have something to do, if not- make it up! We also need a league table to show who's fighting who. Would anyone like to make one? > >Still OOC- In the UK, BBC2 has just started screening the American Version of Robot Wars called Battlebots, and I'd just like to have a little moan about it. There are two pinhead idiots presenting the program who are not remotely interesting to listen to, and they give the battles WAY too much hype. Especially as there is only 2 fights lasting 1 minute each in this 20 minute program, and after the talking, tlking and more talking and announcing the robots- you expect the battles to be something special- which they're not. Some of the robots may be good, but they're too bulked down with weapons that they're slow, causing the battle to be something tedious and almost painfull to watch. > >And despite these beasts being huge and powerful, I have to admit that some of our English robots could nip in- do the business with a sharp axe and destroy the robots before they had chance to turn. > >:-) Just wanting to make some fighting talk before we start the battle, it might make it interesting! Remember the US v England Robot wars where the British completely destroyed the Yanks? > >(BTW- I like the Cannon memorial toilet. It's practical and we can think of him everytime we use it :-) >================================== >Lt.
