Previously, at the party
Zodar had finished his drink at the bar just after Josh disappeared
into the crowd.
"Damn, that was an good drink!" Zodar exclaimed as he slammed the
glass down on the table. "I could really go for another..."
Chris heard a voice from behind him.
"Um, you're Zodar, right?"
Zodar spun around on his stool to face the person addressing him.
"Yeah, yeah, that's me." Zodar replied, surprised to be talked to by
a Female member of the crew.
"Good, you're not drunk."
"What? No, I'm not drunk. Why?"
"Uh, nevermind. You're putting a band together, right?"
"Uh..." Zodar was cut off.
"What will you be playing?"
"...well, I was going to sing, but..."
"So you don't need a vocalist?"
Zodar needed to explain the situation better.
"Not exactly. See, I was putting a group together, but as you can
see," Zodar drew her attention to the band setting up, "It's been
taken care of."
"Oh, so you aren't in the band?"
"No, I haven't been asked." Zodar tried not to look glum. "If you
want, you can ask them about singing. Um, sorry, I missed your
name..."
"Lloyd. Penny Lloyd. I'm a security officer here."
"Ah, I've heard of you... You died or something and they brought you
back."
"Well I never died, actually. It's really complex. But I'm alive now,
and I've never felt more alive."
"The holograms must envy you... Oh, yeah, my name's Chris Zodar."
"A pleasure meeting you."
"No, the pleasure's all myne." Zodar winced at the amazingly corny
line he just gave.
The two shook hands and the party continued.
