Making Room

After he was done 'celebrating', Artemis headed back to his quarters.

The Missus was absent, she had gone to her 'parents' for the day. Artemis was going to take the time to make some more changes to his quarters, to make room for the children.

He was trembling with excitement as he zipped around his quarters, and the vacant rooms around it, planning out how much room he would need. Alexis said that he was having eight kids, so he would need to make substantial expansions. Skutters, especially Skuttlings, didn't require that much room. If he made the children (who according to Alexis, would be an even split of four boys and four girls) pair up and share rooms he could save on the amount of work that needed to be done. Artemis also took into account the renovations that would be made to existing rooms, like converting his old rec room to a play area. He had 48 hours to make the changes, however, if the kids came before the work was finished they could stay with The Missus' parents until the work was done (for the first few hours the software for movement wouldn't have been installed and they wouldn't be able to move anyway).

After he was done planning, Artemis went down to the ISL to retrieve a few of the lab robots to help make the changes. However, he felt that they wouldn't be enough.

"Holly" Artemis said, watching the Skutters, lifters, and crawlers adjust his quarters.
"Hey Artie, congrats on the daddyhood and all"
"Thank you my disembodied friend! Could you send a message to Mr. Eastlick, I need help making room for the children. The robots might be able to cut it but I trust Mr. Eastlick much more than the lab robots that drew on my face while I was frozen"
"Can do. Also, there's a bit of situation goin' on with Jaxx, didn't look like you noticed"
"Situation? I thought he had been slobbing around in his quarters"
"Yeah, Jay locked 'im in there. Don't remember why but it's causin' a bit of a stir"
"Huh...well, tell Mr. and Mrs. Jaxx that I'm always available if they need anything. Anyway, there's work to be done"

Artemis got to work helping the robots. He wondered why Jay ordered the lockdown, but then Artemis began to wonder how he was taking Katrina's death. Jay already had the stress of leading the last bastion of humanity, now he had the stress of raising his son alone without Katrina...Artemis couldn't even begin to imagine what he was going through. He wished he could do something to help, but what could he do other than offer sympathy and wish that he didn't let Lindstrom live back on the swamp moon?

Jamie: I left the 'home improvement' thing open just in case you were looking for something to do. You're our only engineer now and Artemis would sure as hell prefer you over some immature lab robots! It's open if you want it

Evelina/Jaxx: Artemis has offered help. He won't break Jaxx out or anything (he's not willing to betray Jay, whom he is deeply indebted to after he saved Artemis' life), but he can help plead his case to Jay.
