Idle hands

Evelina watched as Jaxx just sat television the entire time since they came back. Since Jaxx couldn’t sleep or train in his skutter body it left him with few options. To make things worse Cass denied him his old body back and called him a menace. Evelina asked, “Jaxx would you like to out with me?” Jaxx remained motionless as he replied in his Vader voice, “But I’ll totally miss Gilligan’s Island!” Watching Jaxx become an empty life form hurt Evelina deep in her heart. She couldn’t bear to watch Jaxx torture himself anymore so she left to find someone to talk to. After roaming the halls for what seemed like hours, Evelina ran into Jamie who was working on the ship.

"Three million years ago, there was a strip club on the promenade that you'd have loved." Holly said, for once getting something right. "Cass used to be a stripper there, back then."
"What?" Jamie said, doing a double-take. "I'd have paid to see that!"
Holly nodded, in that weird way only a disembodied head could do. "I'll tell her you said that, maybe she needs some money." Then he vanished.
"WAIT!" Jamie shouted, real fear in his eyes. "don't you dare tell her about this. She'd kill me!"
"I'm just yankin' yer chain!" Holly said, vanishing again.
"Just what I need... a crazy AI..." the lone engineer muttered under his breath.
Jamie finished sealing the pipe back into place, and reactivated the coolant flow before letting himself slide down to a seated position again, and trying to get some rest. For the past couple of days they'd been back, he'd been getting nothing more than naps as he tried to repair everything that was broken.
<tag to anyone who feels like wandering through engineering looking for someone to fix a problem... This post is more of a "what's going on this downtime" than actually doing stuff, but that can be fixed no problem.>

Evelina made a small giggle as Holly teased Jamie. It had been a while since Evelina smiled much less laughed. Evelina watched Jamie work for a while before he noticed her. Jamie looked at Evelina and asked, “Did you need something Evelina?” Evelina replied, “Not unless you can fix Jaxx.” Jamie shrugged as he replied, “Depends on what’s wrong with him. Is it mechanical?” Evelina shook her head no as she replied, “I think he is depressed that Cass won’t let him have his body back.” Jamie replied, “I see. Have you talked to her about it?” Evelina shook her head no as she replied, “Not feeling to brave right now and Cass can be scary sometimes.” Jaime nodded yes as he replied, “That’s a rational fear.” Evelina took a deep breath and sighed as she replied, “I guess I am disappointed and all. I had big hopes of coming home alive with the others, then getting Jaxx his body back so we could have our honeymoon. But as you can see things didn’t work out well for many of us. I just wish we could fix it with the time machine so we could be happy again. But I guess its to much to ask for.” Jamie looked at Evelina who was a little depressed and then his work log before saying, “I don’t mean to be a killjoy, but I still have a long list of stuff to do and….” Evelina nodded as she replied, “I know your to busy.” Jamie felt a little guilty as he reluctantly said, “I don’t mind you talking if you don’t mind tagging along while I make my rounds.” Evelina gave some thought to Jamie’s offer and nodded as she replied, “Ok maybe some work will be good for me.” Then Evelina followed Jamie to his next repair job.
