Cubie gets Stoned
McKenzie's . . .
Cubie was getting irate. "Never once did you mention that she
was a customer! I thought you were just being nice!"
Zack was exasperated. "But honey! If we're in the store, I'm
working. See the nametag?" He pointed to his monogrammed
nameplate. "If this is here and I am here, then I am working!"
Cubie snorted. "Oooooooh! Aren't we the big man on campus? We
have a nametag! We're special!"
She was about to say more when she heard a voice in her
head. "Stone to Blue Dwarf! Hey!!"
"What the . . . ? Hello?"
"Hello? Is this Blue Dwarf??"
Cubie shook her head, trying to figure out where the voice was
coming from. "Well, I'm ON Blue Dwarf. Who are you?"
"I'm Stone! I'm stuck here on the planet! Get me outta here!!"
"But I'm-"
"Look, I'm desperate! What do you want?"
Cubie blinked. "What do you mean 'what do I want'? What do YOU
want?"
Zack, who was only hearing Cubie's side of the conversation,
tapped his wife on the shoulder. "Honey?"
She waved him away. "Not now, I'm hearing a voice in my head!"
Zack nodded, then slowly backed away. The last time she'd said
that, she'd started beating the daylights out of him just minutes
later. He brushed against a rack of cricket bats, and helped himself
to one.
Cubie was apologetic. "No, Stone. I was talking to my
husband. Where exactly are you at?"
<On to you, Stone - be careful who you dial when you call collect!>
