Cancelling the Apocalypse

The battle was raging everywhere. Shark Boy and Mech-Girl were off flying around, destroying all the airborne enemies they could. It was one hell of a mess up there, parts of destroyed enemies fell to the ground all over the place, but it would be a lie if anyone said it made the place look worse.

"Come get some!" The Iron Man said, in his slightly disembodied voice. He was stood on top of a mound of enemies that had all fallen to his strength. More of them charged, firing lasers at him, which reflected off the golden armour.

"Hahaha, you'll have to do better than that." He jeered, firing off a plasma blast from his palm, that vapourised a handful of them.

"You will not survive the day!" called one of the enemies, and like everyone else, Jamie was shocked that these enemies could talk.

"Says you." Jamie replied, vapourising another group of them.

"Send in the Kraken!" called the lone vocal virus-spawn. Almost immediately, the ground shook, cracked and split open in front of him, releasing the Kraken from within.

It was huge, towering above the hills that surrounded them. Black and scaled, it opened its humungous maw and roared a blood curdling roar that was enough to force Jamie to take a step back.

"This isn't going to be fun." He said, as he launched his first plasma bolt at the beast, barely scratching its chitinous shell.

The beast reached out a claw, and backhanded Jamie, sending his golden armoured self flying into the stone hillside. He made a Jamie-shaped mark on the stone, and then fell to the ground, landing on one knee, his hands out to stop the collapse.

"Ouch." He said, "It's on now." he added as he looked up at the beast, and engaged the thrusters in his feet and hands, launching at high speed towards the beast.

It raised a clawed arm to stop him, but the thrusters made him more maneuverable than the beast was, and he dodged it with no trouble, flying around to its rear, where he launched a volley of plasma bolts. Again, no discernible damage. With a minor curse, he swung around and landed on its back.

A claw came around, and smacked him, denting his helmet, but he held on tight, and got enough of a break in the assault to dig his hands into the gaps in the shell, and pull.

With a shriek of pain, the beasts shell tore from its back, revealing the soft underside. A volley of laser blasts from below hit Jamie in the back, where his armour was weakened from his meeting with the hillside. It knocked him around a bit, adding more dents and scratches to the armour, but he only needed to take out the Kraken before he could turn back to the peons below.

With a moment to charge up, the plasma cannon on his hand roared a high pitched scream, before unleashing a beam of pure plasma, tearing through the soft insides of the Kraken, and bursting out of its underside. With a crash, it collapsed on the ground, sending out a shockwave of dust and debris that halted the laser fire for just long enough to escape to safety.

"Ho boy, this isn't going so well any more." Jamie said, surveying the damage to his suit. It was serviceable, but worn.

Not the best of timing, but the crack in the ground split further, and two giant claws grabbed onto the sides, pulling up an even bigger monstrosity. This one was at least five times the size of the Kraken, built like a humanoid dragon, and it roared like Godzilla as it fully emerged.

"Fine. Let's go." The Iron Man said, launching himself up at it. He fired plasma bolts all the way up its height as he climbed, but with one swift slap, the Monster bashed Jamie back down, and he hit the ground with a horrible metal crunching sound.

"Oww..." He said, almost unable to move.

Fortunately, The Ubermensch showed up at that moment. "Need a hand, buddy?" He asked, pointing the Uber Gun at him as he lay there.

"Do it Now." Jamie said, as the humungous monster took a step towards them, and began to pull his arm back for a swing at their ground location.

The ubercharge beam hit Jamie, and began to transform the suit into something altogether more awesome.

With a groan, the metal stretched, turning him into a gigantic robot, matching the size of the beast. The swinging fist of monster was caught by Jamie's own gigantic hands now, and he swung upwards, launching the beast into the air.

"Not so big now, are ya?" He said, his voice booming across the landscape. He swung a fist of his own, slamming into the side of the monsters head, knocking it down for a moment.

"Hey, that Uber beam is awesome." Jamie said, pounding into the monster while it was down. It slowly shifted its weight, and launched itself from a crouch into the giant robot, turning it into a struggle for dominance. It was a tough battle, could have gone either way for at least a minute, maybe two. Then, just as it looked like Jamie was going to push it back down, a huge tail swung around and tripped the metallic mecha.

The Iron Man was on his back, and once again the monster reared back for a downwards jab that would undoubtedly tear through the armour plating.

"Hey dumbass. I still have my plasma cannon." Jamie said, taunting as he reached an arm out from his prone position. His hand morphed into a silver glowing cannon that began to power up, glowing brighter with time. As the beast thrust its arm downwards, Jamie let loose the plasma bolt.

There was a bright white light, forcing everyone nearby to look away. As it dissipated, people began to look around again.

There was no sign of the giant beast, nor the gigantic version of the Iron Man. Then, the dust began to clear from the blast.

Hovering at about half the height of the two gigantic fighters, was The Iron Man.

"I am INVINCIBLE!" He called, triumphant as his plasma bolt had entirely destroyed the gigantic beast.

Jamie landed next to the Ubermensch. "Thanks for the assist. Shall we?" He asked, and the two headed off to find the others.

The gang proceeded towards the large castly thing, with the spires.
“We’ll have to be careful.” Said Chrysler. “I have the feeling there’ll be more fighting yet”.
The others nodded and kept an eye out as they tramped onwards.
Before long, as Jay had predicted, the team were engaged in battle with several hideous demons.
