[FLASHBACK] Wiki Wiki wild wild west (because I used Wiki to check some bits)
Posted byPosted: Sep 6, 2013, 6:51pm
Durango, San Fernando Valley, California
April 1882
The saloon doors swung behind the stranger after he entered the establishment, flapping loosely as they passed each other. The stranger glanced around the tavern. In one corner, desperadoes played poker. A pianist played jaunty tunes in another and harlots beckoned patrons over in another.
The stranger stood tall. A long, dusty brown coat that reached to his calves adorned his shoulders, a similarly coloured Stetson on his head. He walked toward the bar, stepping over a drunken patron on the floor who mumbled something grumpily as he did so.
“What’s his problem?” The stranger asked the barkeep.
“Ignore ‘im” said the barkeep. “Solvay wouldn’t know sober if it smacked ‘im in the face. What can I get ya?”
“Whiskey”
The bartender nodded, and reached under the bar, pulling out a dirty shot glass and a bottle, he poured a shot into the glass which the stranger gulped down.
“I’ll take another…is that the Carson City gang?” he asked, nodding over to the poker playing table.
“Yup” said the barkeep “You don’t wanna go messin’ with them, stranger.”
The stranger rolled back a sleeve of his jacket and, unseen by the barkeep or his patrons tapped a few buttons on a device on his wrist, it triggered another, smaller device hidden in his ear canal, which focused on the poker table.
“Ah’m tellin ya boys” said one of the poker players in hushed tones, unaware of the amplifier that the stranger, Jay Chrysler, used to listen in. “This could be our biggest heist yet! There’s gotta be at least a hun’red thou’and dollars worth o’gold in that vault!”
“Imagine ‘dat” said another “I could buy me all the bourbon in America!”
“Gentlemen” said Jay, walking over and interrupting “A hundred thousand dollars is a drop in the ocean compared to what you could have if you help me.
“Wut?” said the dealer.
“Theres a train, leavin’ Durango at 5 o’clock tomorrow” said Jay “It’s carrying $5,000,000 worth of bullion. I plan on robbing it. I can’t do it alone. ‘Tween me and the four o’ you. Theres a million each to be had…you interested?”
….
And so it was Jay found himself on horseback, a bandana covering all of his face, bar his eyes and galloping along the railroad, the Carson City gang alongside him.
He rode hard and fast, drawing alongside the trains caboose, before leaping from horseback and onto the train, followed by the four members of the Carson City gang. They fivesome clambered to the roof of the train and made their way forward, leaping the gaps between carriages before dropping back down when they reached the one and only freight truck of the train.
Jay, and one member of the gang stood either side of the truck’s door, before Jay kicked the door open, weapon drawn and aiming at the guards. “On the floor!” he yelled, his compatriots following suit and doing the same. Jay ran back out of the door and reached down, uncoupling the rear carriages from the truck, then running to the other end and uncoupling it from the locomotive, watching as it steamed off around a bend, and the truck grinding to a halt.
“Alright” said one of the gang. “Lets get this bounty loaded onto the horses.”
Jay said nothing, just pulled back the tarpaulin that covered the crates that were supposedly full of gold uncovering a wooden crate that bore the words “Transmed Pharmaceuticals”. His eyes widened in shock when he read it….
He slapped a small device onto the stack of crates then activated his wrist device, dematerialising out of existence, along with what the Carson City Gang still thought was $5,000,000 worth of gold.
As soon a Jay materialised in STCP HQ, his cargo was taken from him, and placed in stasis.
He’d been sent to recover future technology. He hadn’t expected what he found.
“Phil…” he said to his support agent, over a table in the bar later that night “Theres only one thing Transmed cargo can be….”
Phil nodded.
“It’s Hymenoptera…”
“Right.” Jay continued “What do they want with it? What was it in the old west?”
“Who knows..Someone sent it back in time…one can only imagine why..”
“As long as it exists, THEY can come back. I can’t let that happen…”
Jay never realised it, but the STCP new full well that it was him who broke into the stasis vault and destroyed all of the Transmed Pharmaceuticals samples of Hymenoptera DNA.
Jay was ALWAYS going to destroy them. But more so than that, finding that STCP held onto samples of Hymenoptera life, long after they were wiped out would be enough to plant the seed in his head that would lead to his eventual desertion….and….ultimatley…lead them to Cassandra Jones…
