Going Turbo

Next up, was Jamie. He walked into the factory, looking around wide eyed at the machinery around him. It looked cartoony, which was never a bad thing. Each piece of the factory looked like it was made of some kind of hard candy. With enough teeth-breaking, or licking, you could rend the place asunder, but just the thought of that much sugar made his teeth ache.
"So, Who are you?" mary-Lou asked this newcomer.
"Jamie Eastlick." He said.
"Jammy Liquorice?" Mary-Lou answered. Jamie giggled in response. It was an adorable little giggle that perfectly fit his new childlike appearance.
"That's a funny name. Liquorice aren't Jammy." He said, shaking his head.
"They can be. Stick some liquorice in the Jam-Marsh and it'll be Jammy!" she said, jumping with a fist in the air as if to prove she was victorious.
Then, she turned to the machines. "Ok. Your first task is to choose what to make your kart from."
Jamie stepped up to the small turret that stood in front of what looked like a waterfall of sweets. The turret was a little minigun arrangement, that fired smarties at a high rate of fire. As the sweet components fell, he had to hit them.
And hit them, he did. Although he had been returned to child state, some of his Space Corps training had stuck with him through the transition, and his marksmanship was pretty good. Soon, he'd got an assortment of cake-like things, four jawbreakers, a couple of curly-wurlies, and some giant buttons.
Next step was to stick it all together. This minigame was just the stirring game. Stir it all together, and the most optimum result came from the longer you kept it in the green area of the mixer station. The mixer controls looked much like a joystick. Hold the trigger down to put the mixer in the mix, and move it around to the directions given. Of course, you had to stop half way and mix it the other way, just to throw you off guard, and make some people who weren't paying attention screw up.
"come on, you can do it!" mary-Lou screamed as "Jammy" began to tire from the stirring. Then the buzzer sounded, and it all went into the oven.
Some time later, and a worn out Jammy stood in front of the large garage doors to survey his ride. He opened his eyes wide as it rolled out, to reveal a large wedge of chocolate cake as the chassis, 2 Jawbreakers on either side, close together and wrapped with a curly-wurly to be tracks, and the giant buttons at the front as wheels to steer with. The Refreshers & Cola powered engine was sat on top of the cake wedge, weighing down the front, and a pair of pink wafers made a chair, complete with a lolly stick and werthers original for the steering wheel. It was a masterpiece as far as he was concerned, and looked like an absolute powerhouse.
"I love it!" He said, and leapt instantly up onto the seat, completely forgetting how worn out he was with the ordeal.
The engine fizzed up to a roar, and rolled out to the starting line, where everyone else was waiting. It was to be a hell of a race, with all the in-built game characters, as well as the newly childlike Dwarfers sat on the grid, more like Formula One than an arcade game.
The commentator spoke as he aligned himself with the markings on the starting grid. "And here's the latest newcomer, Jammy Liquorice, driving the Chocolate Fudge Breaker. An excellent vehicle, their instructor can only have been Mary-Lou Marzipan to get such excellent results."
Everyone was lined up on the grid, and ready as the countdown began... Engines revved, and roared off the line as the lights turned green, sending everyone off in an adrenaline fueled frenzy to get to the front of the race.

"They've started!" M & M called to her father, who watched on a big screen.
"As soon as they pass the first corner, it'll be too late." Treguard said, with a funny laugh. There was a red glint in his eye, as he grabbed a large lever, with a standard, comedic red ball on the end. Almost like every lever in the world should be the same way.
"NOW!" he called, pulling the lever.

Meanwhile, back at the race. No one could really see who was out in front, there were so many cars, so close together. But that wasn't the real problem for most racers. All of the in-game characters looked frenzied as their eyes started to glow red. Soon after, their cars began to change. No longer were they cute candy based karts, but huge, powerful death machines. Oreo and Jammie Dodger wheels became razor sharp steel discs, and the light, fluffy cake and cookie chassis' became metal, solid and dangerous.
Of course, the same could not be said for any of the Dwarfers. Their cars remained cute, fluffy and soft.
The first casualty came as one of the sharpened metal discs tore into the curly wurly tracks on Jamie's kart. It snapped off, leaving the two Jawbreakers to catch on the road and continue on. Fortunately, the Jawbreakers stopped most of the damage, and he was able to continue with nothing more than a slide out of the direct line of fire.
Would everyone else be as safe though?
<Tag all. How do you and your karts handle the transformation of cute cake cars or sublime sweet speeders to massive metal monstrosities? (How's that for alliteration?)>
