Red Section

The plasma cannon on the arm of Hit Mark Theta began to glow, and the barrel span. They had time.
"COME ON!" Jamie yelled, getting everyone up.
From the bottom of the pile, Jade called up "Get them off me! I can barely breathe!"
"Jaxx, give me a hand!" Jamie called, prompting Jaxx to put away his ineffectual weapons, and grab the pile of human-shaped genetic material (Because that covers GELFs too).
Jaxx ran with Evelina on his shoulder for a while, and pulled Jade to her feet, giving her a quick push away from the Hit Marks.
"Sergeant!" Jamie called, taking cue from Jade. "Fall back! We can't hold them here!"
In response, Alex dropped an empty clip from his weapon, and loaded a new one. "Agreed, Corporal. Get Patterson to signal the retreat. We regroup at position Three."
Jamie rolled with it. "Sir!"
Alex reeled off another burst with his gun, covering their escape and expertly suppressing the corridor, as his bullets went straight through the Hit Marks.

The crew ran full tilt down the corridor as the Hit Marks began blasting at them from behind. Jaxx was running with Evelina over his shoulder next to Jamie and Dr. Jade followed by a gung ho Alex. Jamie said, “What are we going to do? Those things aren’t giving up.” Evelina said, “We need to find a way off this floor fast.” Dr. Jade replied, “The only way out I saw before was a large vent shaft farther up, but it went straight up.” Jaxx muttered, “Just show us the way and I’ll totally make it work…..somehow.” The dwarfers ran full tilt till they arrived at the vent. However the Hit Marks were catching up to the crew. As the crew looked up they saw the vent tunnel had rungs going up but it was twelve foot to the nearest one. Jaxx put Evelina down and said, “You first Eve babe.” Evelina nodded as she said, “Ok.” Jaxx lifted her up to the first rung and waited till she climbed up a few rungs before looking at Jade.

Jade took a deep breath before Jaxx lifted her up by the foot. However Jade couldn’t make it to the first rung so she stepped on Jaxx’s head and jumped up to get more reach and just made it. The Jaxx looked at Jamie and said, “Your next bro.” Jamie shrugged as lifted Jamie by his foot to the first rung and waited till he was up a few rungs before turning to Alex who was not pleased about the vent shaft. Jaxx said, “Ok Alex dude your next.” Alex responded, “Smeg that! I ain’t going in there.” Jaxx looked to see the Hit Marks were approaching in the distance and turned to Alex and said, “Dude seriously we gotta go.” Alex got serious and yelled, ”SMEG OFF! And that’s an order!” Jaxx thought for a second before looked at Alex seriously and saying, “Yo Sergeant look at my armor rank and tell who has the higher rank.” Alex slowly took his eyes off Jaxx to see his armor only to realize Jaxx had a Master Chief rank on his armor. Alex made a fist and yelled, “Smeg! You are Chief.” Jaxx smiled in relief since he was just guessing and hoped he outranked Alex.

Jaxx then looked Alex in the face and said, “Sergeant Alex your mission is to totally protect Dr. Jade so get your punk ass up that gnarly vent shaft before I totally drop kick your butt out an airlock.” Alex bit his lip as he muttered, “Aye Chief. “ Then Jaxx lifted Alex by his foot up the vent shaft. As Jaxx was waiting for Alex to move up he saw the Hit Marks closing in on him. Jaxx sighed as he said, “Not cool man. Not cool.” The Hit Marks stopped to aim at Jaxx which gave him some time to whip out one of his chains and swing it at the rungs in the vent . The chain quickly wrapped around the second rung and Jaxx held it tight and squatted. Then as the Hit Marks powered up Jaxx pulled himself up the chain as he jumped really high to catch the second rung. Then Jaxx quickly climbed up the rungs and pulled his chain off with him.

Jamie yelled, “Everyone hold tight. I’m dropping a bomb.” After the bomb fell to the ground the crew began climbing fast out of fear. The crew were making good time up the vent when the Hit Marks approached the entrance and were setting up to aim up the shaft. Suddenly the bomb exploded and caused a cave in on the Hit Marks.

“We’re a long way from being out of the woods yet” White Wolf growled as he tapped away at his handheld “They know we’re here... Yes!” he continued exultantly “There’s a Gateroom not far from here; we’ll use that to escape”
“But what about the Auto-Doc?” Katrina rounded on him “What about Jay?”
“We’re useless to him if we’re dead” Cass sighed as she clambering to her feet “I took a full trawl; with industrial grade nanotech I can do a complete rebuild”
“I don’t want him to die” Kat murmured
“He's not going to” Cass insisted
“We don’t have time for this” White Wolf snapped “Katrina, if the others are, by some miracle, still alive: Signal them now, and let them know we’ll meet them on the level seven twenty one - Red section”
“So what’s a Gateroom?” Cass asked, snaking a hand out to grasp one of Katrina’s hands in hers and give it a sympathetic squeeze before reluctantly letting go again
“A place we can use escape into another dimension” White Wolf shrugged “We need to move”

After Katrina called Jade the crew made it out the vent to the next level. Jamie asked, “So where do we go Doc?” Dr. Jade replied, “Level seven twenty one - Red section.”
