Morning After...

He gestured around, trying to focus his thoughts, wanting to be supportive.
“This must…” he swallowed trying not to lose his thread “… be really weird?”
She took his meaning and nodded. “I’ve not had too much chance to take it in yet but… yes, it is quite strange” she understated.
He yawned and she yawned back. Finally giving in to the tiredness, she lie down on the bunk next to him.

“I might close my eyes, just for a few minutes” she murmured.
But Alex didn’t hear. He’d already passed out.

She ran.

She ran from the giant Haruk chasing her, but no matter where she hid or fled she couldn't get away. Through the dark, unable to see, mist and fog clinging at her clothes and skin. She was so out of breath that she fell, exhausted from the endless flight. Someone grabbed her wrist, looking up, thinking that the terrible beast had finally got her she saw blue eyes, an unusual greenish tint to them peering at her through the gloom, coming into focus the face materialised into the hansom, stubbly Alex Solvay.

"Don't you think you've been running long enough?" He spoke with Abbie's voice. "You know you aren't alone Jade." His smile transformed into the face of her best friend from medical school. Black hair framing a soft smiling face, the person who had convinced her to get her tattoo. "He's been dead for millennia now..."

The Haruk bellowed from somewhere in the distance. An unearthly cry that warped and twisted in the fog chilling Jade to the bone.

"I can't. He'll catch me. He'll kill me this time." She struggled to get free from the grip around her wrist. Blood began to seep from the cracks between AlexAbbie's fingers. "Please let me go." She begged the spectral figure.

"Never My dear. Never." The Haruk grasped her legs with one meaty claw and obliterated the visionary AlexAbbie with the other. Twisting in it's grip she caught glimpses of it's face as it pummelled her, an amalgamation of Tony and a Haruk. The huge bulking muscled figure roared in delight at her fear.

"Please stop. Please stop." She murmured into the fog as the creature started to drag her away. Slowly, she became aware that she wasn't moving, that the fog was gone, replaced with darkness and a smell of stale beer. Awareness dawned that this wasn't her quarters. Something soft and warm squirmed briefly next to her, moving in response to her waking up. She felt the arm draped over her.

Closing her eyes she allowed herself to feel safe. He wasn't here. He was most likely long dead and ash by now. She was safe. She didn't need to fear him. She wondered what had brought on the memories so strongly recently, when she had been fine for years. Must have been the stress of... All This as Alex had so bluntly put it in his drunken state.

Looking at the clock on the wall, she noted the time at close to 6am. She wasn't going to get back to sleep and still needed that shower. She felt stiff and tired and dirty. Now she could add smelling of stale beer too. Great. Gently she disentangled herself from the sleeping (Gods, she hoped he was sleeping and that her rambling hadn't woken him) Alex. Quietly she tiptoed towards the door. Spotting a notepad and a pen she hastily scribbled him a note:

Mr Frowny, sorry I had to go. I didn't want to wake you, saves all the awkwardness as well. Don't forget to take the pills. Eat something, drink a lot of water and you'll be fine. Don't feel too unwell for too long, come get me for a coffee if/when you feel up to it.
J

She drew a smiley face on the bottom of the page as well. Although, it had to be noted that as a Doctor her handwriting wasn't the best, some normal people found it hard to read. This was done hastily. It didn't occur to her that Alex might not be able to read it. She paused and looked back at him from the doorway. He'd have one hell of a hangover when he woke up. she shook her head, chuckled and walked out.

She stood under the hot running water, her clothes having been ditched in the laundry much longer ago. Leaning on the back of the wall she closed her eyes.

"Why do I always do this?... He's just the same... Drunken, lazy good for nothing..." A deep sigh. "He's different? Yeah, that's what they all said wasn't it?" She scrubbed the last of the dirt and sleep off and turned off the water. "Well, take each day as it comes I guess. He was drunk. Won't remember it anyway. Doubt he'll even come and apologise or anything." She dressed in her normal work attire, smart trousers and a short sleeved shirt. Continuing her monologue, "It's nothing you are over thinking things again Jade... Yeah, but he is.... Stop it. Go to work, it'll take your mind off the trivial stuff"

She grabbed a breakfast and coffee to go and was just about done when she entered the medical bay.

She was still asleep there, curled up in her coat in the chair, when Jade returned to check on her patient early next morning
She wasn’t surprised to find her there in the slightest
