***Action*** "Back to civilisation... or a chicken factory?"
JMC Blue Dwarf
Ship date 26/8/2100
The large blue mining ship closed in on the Proxima orbital poultry facility. The facility was similar to any orbital space-station, it had a main bulky body with many lights shining out of the seemingly tiny windows. The top section of the facility housed four enormous domes, each having its own ecosystem specifically programmed to its function. Since its function was only to keep chickens the ecosystem wasn't particularly spectacular.
Enormous tubes or chimneys bellowed toxic fumes and gasses into space from the unhygenic and rather pollutant chicken factory. This was where the chickens were killed, cooked and made into those nice innocent looking drumsticks and nuggets that people buy in the supermarket.
The enormous ship slammed its reverse thrusters on to slow down and approached the floating space station. Long claw-like docking arms extended from the station and pulled the Blue Dwarf closer, slowly pressing it's side against the docking rim of the station.
Technicians on one of the centre decks opened the door which led onto the gangway which led onto the station and immediately a crowd of off duty crewmembers ran out of the ship to explore the station.
Elsewhere on the ship however, work had to be done. Engineers and technicians from the orbital facility came aboard to help with the repairs and to give the Blue Dwarf's engines a tune-up and MOT.
As this was going on, the new Blue Dwarf crewmembers came aboard their new home for the first time.
The human crewmembers walked onto the ship by the gangway, looking around them at the ship which they would become to know and (doubtfully) love.
The miserable chief of security Major Harris greeted the newbies with his usual miserable expression and annoyed attitude. He escorted them to their new quarters and gave them a brief tour of the ship.
The new hologram, Phil FeBuggure however, had to be transferred to the Blue Dwarf's onboard holo-grid from the orbital poultry facility.
Commander Niples assigned Chief Engineer Jason Smegg to work with the station's engineering team to transfer the hologram. The operation was a bit risky, but the commander knew Smegg could do it.
In the Drive room the Captain waddled out of his office and announced on the inboard speakers "We'll be staying at the station for one or two weeks. Everybody get their work done as soon as possible then you can have the rest of the weeks off for shore leave!"
The cheer was so loud even the crew of the Space station could hear it.
<<OOC- All you new crewmembers can now write what happens when you come aboard. I'd like to hear what happens when you meet people and get to know them.
I'm not going to write another action post untill we're ready to leave, so you are all free to write what happens to you while we're at the station. OK, people- lets get writing!!!>>
