Re: where\'s the boss? Part 2
"We offer you two choices" said the other gelf.
"Please Bob, let me do the talking" said Charles, "Behind us are two
doors, with two corridors behind them. One leads deep into the heart
of the complex, the other takes you through the sewers and in through
a 'back door' of sorts, the choice is yours."
The team huddled together to discuss it.
"The main corridor to the center of the building will be heavily
guarded" Penny said.
"So we should go through the sewers then" said Schweeble.
"But that would be far to easy, sounds like a trap" Harris replied.
"Ok hold on" said White Wolf, and to Charles "Which door is which?"
"I could tell you, but where would be the fun in that?" Charles
replied.
"Ok, then we split up and go through both of them" Harris
said, "everyone keep an open comm channel" and so Penny Lloyd and Joe
Schweeble took the door on the left and Major Harris and White Wolf
went right.
Penny & Joe looked through their opened door for a second, and
quickly gave the thumbs up to Major Harris and Lt. Commander White
Wolf before stepping through it.
Harris stepped to the side of the right door, and said to White
Wolf, "Do you want the pleasure of being first?"
"Still having trouble with concept of trust Major? I'll go through
the door first, and I'll secure the area, then you can walk point if
you like after that." And the huge hamster, checked the door, and
then after being satisfied it wasn't trapped, crouched low ready for
an attack, and opened it. Nothing came out. So White Wolf quickly
went in.
He performed a quick search, and finding nothing threatening in the
immediate area, He called back to Harris, "It looks all clear, but
watch yourself these steam tunnels can be dangerous by themselves."
Then Harris stepped through the doorway, and looked over the steam
tunnels. Walking a short ways down the tunnel, and glancing at a
forgotten janitors mop & bucket nearby. And spoke up to be heard over
a loud hissing sound nearby to remark while he started to walk
forward some more, "Looks like nobody was here for quite some time.
You should feel right at home, You're with your fellow rodents."
"WATCH IT!" Yelled White Wolf as he quickly tackled Harris roughly
into the wall, knocking the wind out of him for a few moments.
Then Harris threw him off, and in a wink of an eye, punched White
Wolf in the jaw drawing blood and fell into fighting crouch while
yelling, "I knew you'd betray me sooner or later! Come on, Hamster
Boy, I'll fight ya!"
The huge hamster stepped back carefully, raising his paws while
saying "I have no fight with you Mr. Harris. If you'll permit me..."
And he slowly reached over and grabbed the janitor's mop with one paw.
"So you fight dirty, Huh, Hamster Boy? I can fight you anyway you
want." Snarled Harris, while stepping over to take a defensive
"DON'T MOVE! I'M NOT GOING TO HIT YOU! I'M JUST GOING TO RAISE THE
MOP AND SHOW YOU SOMETHING... ALRIGHT?" And the overgrown hamster
slowly raised the mop to his left.
Harris stopped, warily watching White Wolf raise the mop, ready for
some kind of trick from the huge hamster.
Slowly, the mop moved outward into the corridor, to just in front of
where Harris was walking a moment ago, and suddenly the mop head
sheared off as if being cut by a laser. It dawned on Harris that the
hamster may have just saved his life, and he slowly came out of his
fighting stance.
"I said that steam tunnels were dangerous by themselves, and I meant
it. If you walked into the jet of the leak from that high-pressure
steam pipe, getting instantly cooked would've been the least of your
worries. I've seen stupid engineers get cut to ribbons in a fraction
of a second, and not even get a chance to call out before they were
dead. Here, why don't you use the 'old reliable' steam leak detector
while we walk." And White Wolf held out the mop handle to Harris, who
not knowing what to say slowly took it from him.
Smiling, the large hamster continued while rubbing his bloody jaw "By
the way, Harris, Did anyone ever tell you that you pack a *nasty*
right hook?"
