Rosette - "Pincer Movement"
Who: Rosette & anyone else who wants to join in
Where: Hymenoptera planets surface
When: after my last post
"Spread out." Rosette said to her pilot as the planets surface came into view. Hymenoptera anti-air started ripping into their ships as they started their approach, most of it exploding harmlessly around them like flak.
"Amber, keep your guys above the atmosphere. There's anti-air down here." Rosette said into the Radio, just as the radio station in front of her exploded, showering them with bits.
"Put her down in that clearing. We should be able to get several ships down there for a distractionary force. Jay should be inside the hive by now..." she said, looking at where the escape pod had landed earlier. Without radios, they'd not be able to keep contact, she had to assume the worst, and get at least one nuclear device into the Queen's lair.
Flak exploded around them in showers of corrosive debris and goo, mixed with explosives designed to do exactly what they did to Rosette's starbug exactly as she noticed they were getting closer.
An explosion directly in front of them shattered the plexiglass window, showering the pilot in corrosive goo, disintegrating him far faster than anyone would have anticipated. Throwing her melting jacket away, Rosette took control of the ship, trying to land the damaged craft as safely as she could, considering there was now a gale rushing through the front.
The damaged craft came to a slow stop as the front landing struts gave in on impact, sliding into a pile of sand, which poured in through the front. Moments later, Rosette regained consciousness and climbed out, along with all the space corps marines and her own security officers that were in the safer rear compartments. They all loaded their weapons, and prepared for the inevitable.
The alcohol filled flamethrowers started torching the surrounding areas with burning alcohol, disintegrating the bugs that it hit in an instant. The alcohol filled bullets of everyone elses weapons shattered on the hard carapace of the bugs, melting into weak points that more bullets could get deeper into the bugs, burning them from the inside out.
Behind them, several safely stored nuclear warheads sat on anti-grav platforms that were pulled along with the group as they moved towards the hive entrance that was just around the corner...
"Come on! pick up the pace!" Rosette called to the flanks. "Form a perimeter, keep everything out!" she ordered, prompting all of the men on the flank to turn outwards, leaving the entrance to the hive to those in the centre and with the bombs.
"We're going in here. Every fork gets a bomb, we're going to send them down as many different routes as we can, each one with a handful of men." she said, trying not to slow down. They had to get in and out as fast as they could, doing as much damage on the way as humanly possible.
