Joe's Secret

Location: Parrots
Time:Just after Jay Chrysler had beaten Joe 5 times in a row at pool.
Joe sat at the feeling depressed again, he'd only ever lost one game of pool
before (in fact, he'd only ever played one game of pool before) and now the
total was up to six. He sat there nurseing a beer and reading a book.
"What ya reading?" asked Owen.
"Eht Gninihs, by Nehpets Gnik, oh, sorry, i mean The Shining, by Stephen
King" Joe replied.
"Oh yeah, you're the guy who can only read backwards aren't you" said Owen
"So whats with the eyes?"
"I don't know, i was just born like it" Joe lied.
In fact Joe had been born with two regular eyes, both blue. When he was just
2 years old, his parents decided they didn't like blue eyes and had Joe
genetically modified, so he could have green eyes, something went wrong with
the process and only his right eye changed green, but it was also greatly
enhanced. With both eyes open he saw just like a normal person, but when he
just used his green eye, a whole new world of opened to him, he could see
minute details that average eyes missed, he could see vapours that were
invisible to the human eye, and even sometimes see people auras.
Joe couldn't tell anyone this, because in theory he was a genetically
engineered life form, a GELF, if this got out then he couldn't be sure that
the crew would trust him, and especially with the mission they had now been
given, they might even see him as one of the Bad Guys.
Joe looked at his watch, it was about time to report to the shuttle bay and
help with the loading of Starbug.
Joe downed the rest of his beer and headed off to the shuttle bay.
