JP: It's Moderately Cloudy

OOC- This is a JP between myself and SMAndy. :DWho: Rufus, RosetteWhere: Rufus' LabWhen: Micro back-post.---- Snip ----She tapped in a code on Rufus' lab... She knew he was busy elsewhere
right now, so it would be empty... Stepping in, she closed the door,
and locked it. There was no way anyone except Rufus could get in now.
Something in her mind wanted him to show up, but she also hoped he
didn't, so she could just be alone.Checking the vents and other
possible entrances, she finally allowed herself to calm down, and
regain her strength. The hangover was beginning to cause pain...---- End Snip ----Waking to a smell of meat wafting through the air vents, Rosette sat up from one of the few clear spaces on the floor of Rufus' lab. She looked up at it, but wondered if it was just her mind playing tricks on her. How would the smell of meat get all the way to Rufus lab from any place that was likely to have some. "OK meat... If you jump down, I'll eat you. but otherwise, leave me alone." she mused quietly. The buzzing started up suddenly, the model aircraft powering up and beginning a large elliptical orbit around the lab. Attached to the ceiling with string it's endless circle continued.Caught unaware, and suffering from a mild hangover, Rosette instinctively looked up at the ceiling. The small plane continued to circle the light, attached to a short piece of string. All of the hamsters on the far wall started squeaking and heading towards the side of the cage. Rosette walked over to them, and poked a couple of cages."Is that annoying you too?" she asked them."Squeak!" One excitedly pronounced at Rosette, dancing at the cage bars. They looked rather excited as the plane worked it's way up to it's top speed. Almost without warning, it emitted a tiny 'fut' sound, and a ball of grey cotton wool shot out of the plane and hovered over to the first cage, it stopped above a bowl. It then began to rain."Huh... It's getting moderately cloudy..." She said as the plane emitted a few further clouds. She stood underneath the plane to watch it more closely, but couldn't see how the plane was doing it. Each one of the clouds produced stopped above a cage, and rained on it. As they did, the hamsters stopped squeaking madly, and jumped towards a water bowl. "Huh... Clever.""I know. You wouldn't believe how complicated the trignometrical algorithms and the physics were to get that right. Fresh water, saves having to go around changing them all each day. Means I have more time to work on this." He said, Putting something reverently back in the cryogenic freezer at the far corner of the lab. "Wah!" Rosette exclaimed, jumping back away from the voice. She turned towards him. "How long have you been there?" She asked, blinking at Rufus. She would've put money on the room being devoid of human life when she'd entered, and the door definitely didn't open."I saw the door open on the monitors. It was only you so I turned off the gun turrets in the ceiling. Didn't want you getting lacerated today." He said, fairly flatly, concentrating on the object in the cryo-tube. "There is an additional few rooms at the back, the security hub, a bed. You know how it is. M... She made me put one in for the days that I was working all night.""Gun... turrets?" she asked slowly. turning towards the door to look for them. "How did I miss that?" She said, scratching her head. The hangover returned in full force at that point, instantly reminding her of the reason."Ah.... Then thanks for turning them off..." she said sheepishly. "he must really want this place to stay secure..." she thought."Why did you come down here? How did you get the code anyway?" He asked, apparently deciding that the object was secure enough for now. "Oh... um..." she began, not sure quite how to answer at least one part of the question. "I was being hounded by someone... I thought this would be the place no one would find me.." she said, not answering the final part in the hopes he'd forget he'd asked."Justin right?" He asked, apparently ignoring the last part, not minding in a way that she could get in. Although, he couldn't place why, usually he'd be throwing someone out by now even if he'd opened the door. "I'm surprised he hasn't started to bug Amber at all. I mean, she was their queen and everything.""How... did you know about him?" she asked, feeling part of her blood boiling at the mention of his name. "I don't get it either. I don't even have that side of me any more.""Super-genius... Thank my Dad for that. Look, Amber is far closer to the Hymenoptera than you. You had that side of you, it's gone now. Amber has to live with those changes to her DNA every day. Look at the Vespidae as an example, no one else can fly it nearly as well as her. It's instinctive.""And Amber is also more likely to punch someone for just looking at her... that's closer to the Hymenoptera way too...." she began, though quickly added "Not that she doesn't have a reason for punching them, of course. There's nothing wrong with that." Rufus scrunched up his face at the thought of his sisters temper. "She's always been a bit like that." Jumping to her defence was second nature for him, he was still her twin, even if they had been more distant lately, after everything. "What are you worried about anyway?""Everyone seems to know about me. Justin is one side of it, but what about the others that will want me dead for what I've done? There have to be more people that hate the Hymenoptera than like them." she replied, thankful that it was pretty much only Justin that followed her like a plague. "if I can just figure out how to get Justin to stop following me..""Look at this..." Rufus said, grabbing Rosette and leading her into the back, through a small door int he wall. The room was humming with electricity, monitors lined the walls and data streamed across some, camera feed across others. He sat down in a big chair and typed in some commands on a keyboard. "Check this out, I noticed it a moment ago. Explains the smell too...." He brought up a picture on the main screen in the tiny room."That air vent leads towards his room?" she asked, getting a nod in response. "explains the smell at least..." she said, then noticed the pictures on the wall. One of them looked vaguely familiar. "What's that on the wall?" she asked. Rufus zoomed in on it, and as it got closer, Rosette took a step back."Him as well?" she asked. Then a thought entered her mind. In a much softer voice than she'd used up till now, she asked... "Is there... anyone else?""There is one more thing. Might spoil the surprise if I tell you though...." He grinned."That depends on whether its meant to be a nice surprise or not. If it's some other creep that has built a Hymenoptera shrine with a picture of me in, then I'd like to know so I can go and hit them. but if it's something a little... less creepy..." Rufus typed some more codes into the keyboard, hacking into more camera feeds. He brought up one on top of Chris Harris' desk. Two files lay open. One, reading 'Planned Drill: Krylon Warship' the other 'Captain's Recommendation: Field promotion - Rosette LaChance. Seconded by Amber FeBuggure, Chief Navigation Officer.' Rosette fell silent for a moment. She read the second file heading over and over until she finally squeaked a little. "They... still want me to properly join the crew, even after what I've done?"
---- Snip ---"Attention all hands, this is Lieutenant Commander Chris Harris. There is an
enemy ship in sensor range, they appear to have shields and weapons online. We
should prepare for boarding parties. BATTLESTATIONS."---- End Snip ----"That's your cue..." Rufus said, "Don't let on that I showed you. They've not worked out who's hacking the cameras yet..."<Tag!>
