Drill-ride.

Who:- Jay, Efof, Jayne, anyone else in their party
Where:- The SCS Huddersfield
It had been a few minutes since the fiasco with the depressurising cabin, and
Jay, Jayne and Efof had moved quite a way into the ship, but had still not come
across any northern monkeys crew. Even so, they were relieved to have a few
pressure doors between them and the Starbug, seeing as how a cupboard door
likely wouldn't provide protection against the vacuum for long.
Jay's Y-phone rang, and he fished it out of his pocket. "Harris, go
ahead…..security drill? Ok, fine, keep me posted – don't forget to let the
department heads know."
He hung up the phone and slipped it back into his pocket.
Who:- Amber, Kaleb
Where:- Starbug
Amber sat in the cockpit, and idly spun around in the pilots chair.
"How could Jay leave me back here!" she muttered out loud "The amount of times
I've saved his ass! You'd think he'd treat me a bit better than a mere
pilot….and he took EFOF with him! I'm better than him!"
"I'm sure…" mumbled Kaleb, not really listening obeying evolution's design for
men to never listen to a complaining woman.
"I'm the chief of navigation for smeg's sake!" she continued, "he wouldn't have
stood for this when HE was the CNO!..I'm gonna call him…"
She grabbed her mobile, and ignored the incoming call from Chris Harris, she
pulled up Jay's number in the phone book but stopped as she saw the Starbugs
comms system flashing up a message on the emergency channel.
She opened the channel and a voice came through..
"Attention all hands, this is Lieutenant Commander Chris Harris. There is an
enemy ship in sensor range, they appear to have shields and weapons online. We
should prepare for boarding parties. BATTLESTATIONS."
Amber checked the sensor panel, and sure enough there was a Krylon ship showing
on scanners.
"Ooh…badasses!" she cooed, "this'll be fun, lewis, how are the repairs coming
on?"
"Just about done…"
Had Amber answered her call from Harris, she'd have known that the Krylon ship
was just a holly-programmed sensor trick, and that this was just a drill. Sadly,
her stubbornness had led her to ignore him, and so she believed it was genuine.
She fired up the retros and the Starbug reversed from it's position in the ships
hull, causing entire structure of the Huddersfield to groan under the pressure.
"Amber.." came Jay's voice over the radio "What was that?"
He was looking out of a viewport now, and could see the Starbug leaving "Where
are you going?"
"Captain, Harris just put out a battle order, I need to join the fight, I'll be
back as soon as we've kicked ass…"
"Amber it's a drill…." Jay responded, but Amber didn't hear, she'd already cut
off the communications.
"AMBER!" yelled Jay into the radio. "She's gone!"
The hull groaned again. "Jay…" Jayne said "That didn't sound good…"
"No..the ship was weak already…the Starbug crash didn't help…this bucket's going
to break up before long, we need to find the crew and get out of here.."
"Erm.." Efof said "How do we do that exactly?"
"For once Efof.." Jay said "That's not a dumb question..…"
