Escape Plan Alpha: Transponder Overload
*continuation of previous posts*
"So Seymour's been taken away..." Rosette said. "I'm all for that, since he
can't annoy us now... But I wonder why?"
Rufus cleared his throat in his usual nervous way. "It's probably because they
don't want there to be a chance he could be mistaken for the Seymour of this
universe."
"That's true..." Jay said from behind the other wall. "Everything we've heard
of this universe suggests that we're mostly the enemy of the Mimes." He
continued. He'd heard from Phil that he was an ace fighter pilot with
hymenoptera DNA that gave him an edge over normal humans.
"Are you sure you can't break out of here?" Jay asked Rosette.
"I'm sure. I've locked the bug away forever. Even if you paid me a billion
dollarpounds, I'd never release it again." She said, leaning against a wall.
Luckily the forcefields on the wall weren't electrically charged, unlike the one
over the open wall.
"I'd rather die than go through that again." She said quietly.
"That's good to know." Jay said. "You've helped us through some tough times
with that power, but I completely understand."
"No, you really don't." Rosette said to herself, and let herself slip down the
wall to sit on the floor. "I don't deserve this life... with everything i've
done." she muttered.
"The Mimes don't know I can't become a bug again. This might work to our
advantage. I could be a distraction, while you lot escape." She suggested, but
Jay cut in.
"No one is sacrificing themselves. We either all get out, or none of us get
out."
Rosette felt a tear on her cheek. She'd done a lot of damage. The Promenade
had been destroyed because of her, and Dante had been killed by her. Who knows
who else was killed when the promenade fell a deck, too. As far as she was
concerned, she should stay in the cell until she died.
"Hey, everyone... I've found a transponder in the jumpsuits." Rufus said. "I
knew they wouldn't leave us here without a way of tracking us..." He added,
getting back into his element.
"They have to lower the forcefields sometime... for food and everything. If you
could each get me a transponder from your jumpsuit, they wouldn't be able to
track us, and I might be able to overload the forcefields." He added.
"Mine was on the left shoulder." He added, hoping the others would be able to
find it.
Absent mindedly, Rosette ran a hand over her left shoulder, but couldn't find
the transponder. This knocked her from her contemplation, until she found one
on her right shin.
"Got one." She said, as did the others.
Fortunately for them, the forcefields all went down for a moment. A big booming
voice flooded the entire complex. "The galactic prison manual states that at
least one hour a week must be given to recreation. Please make your way to the
recreational facility of your choice. A map of the choices should be just
outside your cells." It said, in a totally monotone voice, followed by a sigh.
"Why can't they record someone saying that, then just play it over?" the voice
said again, before adding "oops..." and pushing the off button.
