Parrott's 2001 was jumping. What seemed like a hundred people had gathered
for the Karaoke Competition.
Katrina was up next. Why she had chosen to sing "Wake me up Before You Go-Go"
by Wham! was unknown even to her, but she was gonna have fun.
Owen got up on a flimsy stage. "All right everyone. Our next performer you've
probably all seen unclogging your toilet at one time or another..."
Laughter.
"But now she's going to sing a little song that has no meaning to her
what-so-ever. Miss Katrina Swete!"
Katrina jumped on the stage. The beat began. "Jitterbug. Jitterbug. You put
the boom boom into my heart..."
The audience laughed at her song and the fact Katrina wasn't that great a
singer. But everyone seemed to be enjoying it.
"Wake me up before you go-go, cuz I'm not planning on going solo," Katrina
belted out with a grin.
As the song ended, the room filled with the sound of applause. "And
remember," she said as Owen came to take the mic from her, "don't go solo, or
you'll go blind!"
