Hymenthrope - "Phone Home"
<This is a Continuation of the Hymenthrope story!>
"Look, I've had enough of this." jay said, staring at his Captains
Chair, still sat way too far off the ground. "This is MY chair, and
I'm going to damn well sit on it!" he added, beckoning Phil over.
Soon Jay was sat in his chair, as he should be, looking down on
everyone around him.
"Wow... I could get used to this..." he said, feeling a little
mightier than he was a few minutes ago. Nearby, one of the comms
stations lit up, and a cadet spun around.
"Captain! There's a power surge in the habitation decks!" he called,
Jay instantly leapt down from his chair, landing awkwardly on his ankle.
"Ahh, dammit..." he said, now having a slight limp as he moved over to
the control panel. He peered over it, and saw that the drain was
going to wipe out backup power if it wasn't stopped soon. He jabbed
some buttons faster than the cadet could ever have. Eventually, the
power surge stopped, and went back to normal.
"Get a security team down there, see what it is." he barked, then
turned to the other terminals in the drive room. "And the rest of
you, see what it was doing."

Meanwhile, down in the habitation deck, an uninhabited room was full
of technology. A navi-comp, satellite dish and power supply had been
rigged up, pointing off towards Hymenoptera space. The power draw
from the system had wiped out the emergency lighting on a few decks,
causing the crewmembers still onboard to wander about in the dark,
bumping into walls. The Hymenoptera Spider screeched as the power was
cut, and headed back out into the corridors, looking for a new way to
send the message.
'Mollopod planet unprotected, move in and destroy' it had said... The
transmission power had been cut before it completed, so there was no
way to tell if the message had made it out. In her mind, Rosette was
tied up, the part of her mind that was the spider stood over her,
torturing and taunting her.
"Leave them alone!" she screamed as the Spider killed another
crewmember, leaving him in a pile of flesh and bone in the middle of
the corridor.
"You can do better than that!" the spider shouted at her from
point-blank range. "You can't beat me, you've lost your resolve!"
This had been going on for a long time. The times when Rosette had
control she had been lucky, or tricked the Hymenoptera... Now she was
completely under its control. barely even able to move.
"my... Resolve?" She asked, thinking about what the spider had meant.
"you mean... this?" she asked, standing up within the spiders web.
She clenched her fists, and pulled at the webbing. Knives appeared in
her hands, tearing at the strands. "Looks like you were right..."
Their personalities fought, as in the real world, the Black Widow
faltered, heading down to the launch bays, where a final space-eagle
was ready to take off. Inside, Amber sat at the controls, and saw the
bug enter through the door....
