Time out.

The motorcycle left the ground as it hit the apex of the ramp that
led from the A34 up to the M3 motorway above. Jay's right wrist,
which was holding the throttle open was starting to ache, he'd
ridden the bike all the way from Edinburgh at top speed – close to
200mph, without letting up for more than a few minutes to refuel,
and had covered the distance in close to three hours, an impressive
task – but then, he hadn't exactly stuck to speed limits, he felt
sorry for the owner of the bike, who would no doubt find a hefty
pile of speeding tickets landing on his doorstep in a few days from
pretty much every speed camera between Scotland and Dorset, in the
south of England. Not to mention the police would probably use the
footage to try to track down the three men who had so far kidnapped
two young children and had a gunfight in a fast food restaurant car
park…but Jay didn't have time to think about that now..
He'd lost sight of Dean and Phil, and of the assassin back when they
had all fled from McDonalds, rather than waste time trying to find
them Jay figured he could trust his colleagues to keep their younger
selves safe while he himself took the initiative and headed to the
next, and final target early. The young Jay Chrysler, and this was
why Jay was now so determinedly riding the motorcycle he had stolen
at gunpoint to the house he grew up in, in the small coastal town of
Bournemouth.
He had less than ten miles to cover on the M3, before he reached the
next junction and rode at breakneck speeds through the winding roads
of the New Forest and it took him less than 20 minutes to clear the
other side, bursting across the Hampshire / Dorset border, through
the town of Christchurch and into Bournemouth.
He arrived at his parents house to find the door open, the lock
broken on the door. Jay could feel his throat go dry and he
swallowed nervously, he entered the house, the living room was a
mess, it had been completely ransacked. The assassin must have been
here, but how the smeg did he make it here first? Jay had driven
flat out all the way, and his bike was surely a lot faster than
Dean's mum's estate car that the assassin had driven off in!
One thing was certain though, he'd not killed the young Jay, if he
had, Jay wouldn't still be standing here. He heard a noise coming
from upstairs, drawing his weapon, he crept upstairs. He followed
the noise, it was coming from his parent's bedroom, carefully, he
opened the door, still clutching the gun in both hands, and as soon
as he was clear he thrust the door open fully and held the gun out
in front of him, sweeping across the entire room. There was no sign
of Nigel, but, in the middle of the room were Jay's parents, his
older brother and younger sisters, tied together on the floor, their
mouths bound with insulation tape.
He bent down and removed the tape from his fathers mouth, "What
happened?" he asked, dreading the answer.
"Who are you?" demanded his father.
Jay proceeded to untie the family, "I'm….I'm a police officer.."
"In a McDonalds uniform?"
"I'm undercover!"
"In McDonalds?"
"Do you want me to untie you?"
"Yes please…"
"So tell me what happened!"
"A man came…" his father said as Jay finished untying his family and
removed the last of the insulation tape from the young Vanessa's
mouth.
"Well, I say a man, he didn't look right..almost…"
"Alien?" Jay finished.
"Well…yes, but that's preposterous!" Jay's mother interrupted.
"Is it?" his father replied "Mankind is just now venturing into deep
space! Who knows what we'll find!"
"Yeah yeah" Jay said "Give it twenty years and you'll have all the
aliens you can shake a stick at, now WHAT HAPPENED?!"
Jay's sisters, Vanessa and Anna, just 6 and 4 years old respectively
burst into tears at Jay's sudden outburst.
"Oh, now you've upset them…" said Jay's mother "I think you should
leave!"
"Not until someone tells me what happened!"
"Please don't snap at my wife!" snapped Jay's father.
"Oh for the love of god! I'm trying to help you people for f**ks
sake!" Jay said, holding his arms up in exasperation
"Must you swear?" said his mother, matter of factly.
"What are you my mother?" Jay said, to his mother "Please, it's very
important that you tell me what's going on! Wheres your other son?"
"How did you know….?"
"NEVER MIND! JUST TELL ME WHAT HAPPENED!"
"Alright! Alright!" said Jay's father eventually, "I'll tell you,
but I don't much care for your tone!"
Jay was getting impatient now.
"You see…" his father then cut himself off, as he answered his
ringing mobile.
"Hello?"
Jay smacked his hand into his forehead. He considered putting a
bullet there.
"Oh..yes..hold on…." His father handed the phone to Jay "It's the
man who was here before.." he said by way of an explanation.
Jay stared at his father for a few minutes, his eyes wide with
frustration, before he quickly snatched the phone from his parents
hand. "….thanks…." he said, poorly disguising his impatience, then
put the phone to his ear.
"Yes?" he said.
"Your parents are quite a handful. However did you put up with them
growing up?" came the voice
"Get to the point"
"Now…listen very carefully…."
