Rosette - Mind over Matter

The door swung open slowly. In front of her was another door, a neon
sign above it saying 'Operation in Progress'. She shuffled slowly
towards that door, pulling her knives from their sheathes, readying
them for whatever lay beyond the door...

Rosette cautiously approached the door, and swung it open. These
doors were clean, well kept, and definitely not normal for this
building. She peered in, at no one... Just a bed laying in the
centre, with a white cloth covering it. Green blood soaked through it.
"So... It looks like this is it..." She said to herself. She stepped
towards the cloth, and lifted it... A head peered back at her, the
face of Jed Calvert.
"Hi. You took your time..." he said, in a decidedly un-mexican
accent. Rosette's mind faltered as she watched his corpse sit up, and
push the cloth away. He smiled, and watched as she held her knives up
towards him.
Rosette froze for a second, inside her head, two beings were fighting
for control...
"Give it up Rosette, you can't win. I've been hard-wired into your
mind... Kill me and you kill yourself!" A hymenopterran bug called,
knocking Rosette away. The bug was roughly human-sized, covered in
thick black carapace. Rosette rolled away as a scythe-claw smashed
into the ground where she had been.
"This is my mind... You can't beat me." she replied, getting up
quickly. A baseball bat appeared in her hand, and swung towards the
bugs head.
Back in the real world, Rosette wobbled to one side, almost losing her
balance. She dropped one of her knives, putting a hand to her head.
Jed picked up the knife, and waited to see what would happen. She
shook her head, and looked at the weapon in her hand... A laser pistol
attached to the knife...
"This is over... I will complete my mission!" she screamed, a high
pitched wail like a banshee flooded the room before she raised the
pistol, and fired at a gas cannister in the corner of the room...
Oxygen has always been highly explosive in its pure form... even more
so when it is compressed into a single cannister. This time was no
different... The room was flooded with flame, surrounding the two.
Jed looked unfazed by the flames, and held a hand out to Rosette.
"Shall we go?" Jed asked.
Inside Rosette's mind, the battle was a fierce one, Rosette was using
her own mind to create weapon after weapon, while all the Hymenoptera
could do was defend itself. Both of the fighters were worn out, and
finally, Rosette created a new baseball bat, and swung it at the
Hymenoptera's head, knocking it clean out.
Unfortunately, the link between them was so great that Rosette also
fell unconcious, in the real world as well as in her mind.
