Doppelgangers

Who: Keto, Kara, Kara
Where: A Starbug, docked at JMC Station Alpha
When: During the multiple Blue Dwarf madness

<<SNIP>>
"Then why tie me up?!" Kara pushed and she began to actively pull
herself free.
"Because one of you two is the real Lt Kara McGellen, and the other
one is a kill-crazy sociopath. I went out on a limb and decided to tie
up the invincible one just in case." Dysart reasoned with her in a
monotone while he weaved through the other craft.
"Wait... what did you do with the other...well... the other me?!"
Kara's voice hiked up an octave, her head twisting around the room.
"Don't worry, she's not going anywhere. She fell over and cracked her
head open. Major concussion. I dropped her into the Medi-bay in the
back with Keto and had her sedated... then strapped down... with sheet
metal. She's not going anywhere."
...
With that Dysart left, soft, halting metal-on-metal clicks issuing from
down the hall as he pulled out of ear shot.
<<END SNIP>>
Keto stepped gingerly out of the Starbug's small medical bay and
looked around.
They were docked at a station, that much was obvious. Dysart hadn't
informed Keto as to why, but then it did seem like a fairly obvious
course of action - with a hundred very weird, probably dangerous Blue
Dwarf's in the area, it was probably best NOT to board one at random.
Especially when they had two Kara McGellens on board, one of whom was
no doubt a dangerous psychopath.
Keto ducked back into the medibay, then blinked.
The Kara McGellen that had been secured to the medical unit was gone.
Missing. Vanished. Disappeared.
His mind echoed the words 'dangerous psychopath' back to him, and he
whimpered slightly before turning on his heel and running to the
cockpit. If the Kara in the medibay was the dangerous one, then the
one strapped to the co-pilot's chair HAD to be the normal-
She was gone.
Keto spun around, one hand pressed to his forehead, pale-faced. Both
Karas were gone. The straps securing the one to the co-pilots seat
appeared to have been cut through by something, and the restraints in
the medibay appeared to have been tampered with.
So two Karas were loose on board the Starbug, one of which was a
dangerous psychopath, and the other of which would probably hold him
responsible for having helped tie her up.
Keto whimpered again.
Suddenly there was a loud crash of something falling over in the
Starbug's cargo bay. Keto grabbed the small defense pistol from its
holster on the wall and tried to ignore how light and plastic-y it
felt in his hand, before walking slowly and confidently back into the
cargo bay. Trying to, at least. The whimpering probably defeated the
image.
Both Karas were standing in the cargo bay, glaring at each other,
facing off. One had a palm-sized shard of metal with obviously sharp
edges in her hand, the other was holding a medical scalpel in one
clenched fist.
Keto took all this in, then coughed politely. Both Karas turned,
startled, and Keto levelled the gun at them.
"Now, this is not a good situation," said Keto, trying to clear his
throat, "See, I know that one of you is insane. But I don't know
which one. I also know that one of you took a laser blast at short
range with no damage at all. But I don't know which one. The only
people who DO know who the crazy one is here...are you two. So here's
what I suggest..."
Without taking his eyes off the pair of Karas, Keto reached behind him
and pulled forward a cargo crate, before sitting down on it and trying
to stop his hands from shaking.
"Both of you explain to me who is crazy, who is not, and why I
shouldn't just shoot both of you to be safe. Well. Safer."

OOC: Tag Kara, or anybody else who happens to walk into this little
scenario! :) Apologies for the delays in my posting, been an insane
week at work and spent most of yesterday asleep!
